What to do with a turnip?

I’m worried I haven’t done enough veg! Roast potatoes, sprouts, carrots, red cabbage. I’ve got a turnip. Boil and mashed it with butter but it looks a bit bleurgh and not much too it. Should I add anything else to it?

Is that a northern turnip (southern swede), the yellow one? Just mash with butter as you have done, and season well.

You can mash a potato into the swede, thickens it up a bit and makes it less wet. Better texture. Salt and butter, and some people swear by lots of pepper (bleugh!).

Microwave it whole, so much easier than trying to hack the thing up to cook

Do singing swede it the microwave (microwave it till it whistles). It’s so easy. No need to peel and chop, jut scoop out insides when done. Butter and black pepper when lashing and the jobs a good un xxx

Mashing. Don’t lash the poor bugger.

Personally, I'd put it in the bin. Can't stand turnips - tasteless and slimy!

Ton of butter salt and pepper and maybe madh in a carrot?

In previous years, I've whizzed it in the food processor with butter, cream, salt and black pepper, it was yum.
