Anyone take their children to midnight mass?

I miss going to midnight mass since having children. Does anyone take theirs? How old do you think they'd need to be to go? My oldest is only six. How OMG do I have to wait before we can all go again?

I sometimes take mine to midnight mass.
Can they sit quietly (or with an iPad sit quietly?) it's one of the few services where I think quiet is expected rather than a noisy children's service.
The only thing is will they be tired and grumpy the next day, or will it give you a lie in :-D
Otherwise try a crib or christingle service earlier in the evening.

Quiet? At midnight mass? Everyone comes in from the pub,

I would think you have to wait until the Santa years are over, I'd think 10 or 11 at earliest.

Just my opinion but ipads in church is really really rude.

I went when my child was 2 and the following year when they were 3. Slept in until 9-10 am Xmas morning, no issues.

Some churches do an earlier family mass.

Depends on there age?

My daughter is a chorister so has been going for years! It’s a magical service so if you think they can sit through it just go for it. You can always leave if it doesn’t work out. Build it into your Christmas traditions and routine then they may look forward to it. Tomorrow DD16 is going but I may stay home and go to bed!

Mine are 7 and I'm not taking them yet, there is a carol service first at half eleven and to get a seat you need to be there by 1045 latest. That's a loooong time to make them sit there when really they need to be in bed!

BroomstickOfLove · 23/12/2018 18:46

I go by myself after they are in bed.

At my local church Midnight Mass is at 9pm and the Family Mass (First Mass of Christmas) is at 5pm.
I think my adult DC (22 and 19) would like a proper midnight service.
