I could buy tonnes for my 4 year old as he really plays with everything. The 7 year old on the other hand...

Lego, play mobile, play doh.

Depends on budget but at that age mine loved Playdough, Playmobil, the Lego juniors sets, books, audiobooks, orchard toys games and puzzles, simple board games.

We have got Lego, couple of rescue-bot transformer toys, foam sword, books, socks (!), toy watch (spider man one), chocolate coins.
I also really like the ‘crate monster’ toys but we’ve spent enough!
Ds got batman Lego juniors set for his birthday last month which he LOVES.

DS is 4 and getting a box of lego, some books, puzzles, a playmobil farm & tractor, and a lego juniors jurassic world set. He's got some little stocking-y things like squishies, chocolate coins, goo/slime, etc.
