DPIL caravan a lot around the UK and do a lot of walking so thought at NT membership would be a good idea, but i am unsure if they would be restricted because they take the dog everywhere, would they be able to walk around the grounds at most places, just not go inside ?

There are quite a few places where you can walk the dog but often the big houses are restricted to where you can walk them. However, they do own plenty of large areas of common land and that gives free parking. There's a couple of lovely areas near me that Billypup absolutely loves and I'm easily covering my membership costs each month in car parking.

We have NT membership and a dog. I think the majority of places you can walk in the grounds but not the properties. We have found it good to use and provides us with ‘free’ days out bar a coffee and a cake and takes us to places we wouldn’t necessarily visit.
You could put the location in on the NT website and see which properties are relatively near and each one will tell you if you can take the dog.
