Device for music playlists that isn't phone

Sorry if this has been done lots
Looking for a handheld device for a 9 year old to make playlists from Spotify etc - that decidedly isn't a phone.... any recommendations please?

Can you run to an ipod Touch? Alternatively my DH still has a Sony MP3 player which is much cheaper.
