Watch with step counter - help please!

Thinking of getting DS (9) a watch with a step counter for Xmas.

Looking to get one where it can be linked to a an app on a ipad. All the ones on amazon seem to have to be linked to a smart phone

Any ideas?

I have this one which is great. I have it linked to an app on my phone but could just as easily have put the app on an iPad instead.

Garmin vivofit kids. There's a special Garmin app.

My kids have the garmin vivofit jnr 2. Was expensive but ds 3 (10) has worn his everyday since he got it for Christmas last year. Still enjoys playing the related app.

Sorry just realised this is linked to my phone not an iPad so not sure if Apple compatible

Mii bands are very reasonably priced and their app is available on ipad and phones
