Olives?

I've just been given the suggestion of olives for my very hard to buy for uncle.

He's lovely but I don't think really sees the point in presents Grin

I don't like/eat olives so can anyone suggest olive related gifts? Jars of them? What do you eat with them?
Any suggestions very gratefully received!

I’d get a few nice jars if that’s what he likes! One green one black one mixed or stuffed? If you have a nice Spanish shop nearby try there or Carluccios so they are fancier than supermarket ones?

Untamed That's a good idea - I know nothing about them at all! Would you eat them accompanying something or on their own? There's a nice deli in the nearest town that I could have a look in at the weekend

Oooh, and an olive fork! They make it easier to dig them out!

He might like a little jar of tapenade, it's an olive based spread, for toast or bread etc. You can add a spoon to sauces too for a bit of olive oomph!
If he likes olives, he might like Gentleman's Relish too, that's also for spreading on toast.

An olive fork??!! Who would have thought such a thing existed 😂 off to google

@davidbrentschristmasjumper I know, right?? You can get special little plates with half for olive stones when you get inputted ones too! Me? I'm a teaspoon and a sheet of kitchen roll kind of girl!

davidbrentschristmasjumper · 04/12/2018 21:23

@Bunnymumma well my mind is blown! I love the olive plates but I see him more as a side plate and kitchen type too so think he'd be puzzled by the thought of a specific plate 😂
I've had a quick look in amazon and they're all quite Spanish looking (obviously) so I'm tempted for myself! Will have to train myself to like olives.

@AdaColeman I love the thought of a matching fork and spoon and tapenade is now in my basket!

There's a deli in Northallerton, North Yorkshire called Lewis and Cooper's. Like the Harrods food hall of the north, if it's edible, they'll get it! I know they do hampers, and reasonably certain they do everything on line, they have literally abt a dozen types of olive, some stuffed with feta, almonds, chilli's, anchovies. The tapenade and gentleman's relish ideas are great, salami type stuff, cheese, crusty bread, the usual. If someone gave me any of that I'd be a happy bunny. Hopefully not a wild goose chase, just a thought

davidbrentschristmasjumper · 04/12/2018 21:49

@Tony2 that sounds amazing and just the sort of place I need but I'm 400 miles away Grin
I've checked the website and their hampers look fabulous but a bit on the expensive side. there a few smaller things but it says to call for prices which scares me a little 😂

Nocellera olives are my favourite

Those and an olive stoner would make me happy
Love the idea of tapenade and crackers too!

AdaColeman · 04/12/2018 22:00

If you can't get to Yorkshire, never fear, Ocado have a huge range of olives. Kalamata, the king of olives, is my favourite.

davidbrentschristmasjumper · 04/12/2018 22:05

No Ocado either! We are in the beautiful if somewhat shopping restricted highlands - closest supermarket is 150 mile round trip!

I'm heading to the nearest town at the weekend armed with my list of types of olive, tapenade etc and will order a fork and spoon online I think.
I do wish we had Ocado though Blush
