I've never made it before, but fancy giving it a go this year. I don't have a food processor so need a hands on/in recipe. Thanks in advance.

I have an easy recipe which my mum passed on but it is food processor sorry! Know that’s no help to you OP but will post anyway in case others are looking!

8oz salted butter
9oz plain flour
3oz cornflour
4oz caster sugar

Whizz in food processor until together. Roll into a sausage (roll outside in brown sugar- optional)
Cut into half inch slices & bake at 140c for 45 mins

Hope someone comes along soon with recipe that helps OP

From the good old Be-ro book 😊

225g (9oz) plain flour
75g (3oz) caster sugar
150g (6oz) butter

Mix flour and sugar, rub in butter, knead to form a smooth paste.

Divide into two equal discs and decorate top for petticoat tails and bake for 30 minutes at 160 (gas 3) or cut into fingers or small rounds and bake for 20-25 minutes.

I have a Mary Berry choc chip shortbread recipe. Am in bed now but will get it tomorrow for you.

3-2-1 is the classic proportion for shortbread - as the BeRo oracle says Smile - and easy to remember.

Don't over-handle it. Rub the butter in lightly and bring the whole lot together with a palette knife or similar. You can press it into a greased/lined tin with your fingertips - no need to roll it.

I replace a small amount of the plain flour with rice flour, which gives a shorter crumblier texture, but rice flour can be hard to find and it's not essential.

Following with interest. I'm a bit of a baker but I've never managed to produce shortbread that's a patch on Duchy Originals. Hmm
