WOW present for DS17

Need to buy one more special gift for my DS17 to unwrap. Have about £45 to spend. Does anyone have any obscure or unusual ideas that they would like to share. He really does prefer things to unwrap rather than money, vouchers or experiences and he's not big into clothes - I am really struggling Confused

Amazon echo dot, electric hot water bottle, do you allow him to drink? Something to wear? I have no idea what 17 yo are into but I think it's really hard to find anything wow. Swiss Army knife?

Stompythedinosaur · 30/11/2018 11:05

What does he like? Outdoorsy type I'd suggest a knife or solar panel charger, indoor type maybe a new computer game?

TrippingTheVelvet · 30/11/2018 11:10

An electric hot water bottle Shock This would be the dream!

Are there any tv programmes from his younger years that you could maybe get something from? Memorabilia can be cool, and it could be something he would then like to take away if he’s off to uni soon - a link with home.

Ggirl27 · 30/11/2018 11:24

@TrippingTheVelvet He already has an electric blanket! Have already bought him a Dot as I thought it would be perfect. Plays a lot of rugby and has all the kit he needs, doesn't like alcohol (yet!), will see if there are any new games for his xbox although he doesn't use it as much as he used too. Why are teenage boys so difficult to buy for?!

Some really good quality smellies or a shaving kit/subscription. A good quality aftershave?

PinkBuffalo · 30/11/2018 12:58

This might be totally off the mark, but I ordered a great gift for someone last night off amazon which was a poster of 100 films to watch.as you watch the films, you scratch off the panel on the poster. It looked pretty good. It's about £12.50 with free delivery but you could then buy some of films on dvd that you know he hasn't seen? Some of them listed are quite famous classics.

Ggirl27 · 30/11/2018 13:11

@PinkBuffalo No - it's a great idea - I bought him one last year! He is still watching and scratching - it's a great present!

Not sure if he would think WOW but teens are notorious for not waking in the mornings, what about a Lumie alarm clock?

GemmeFatale · 30/11/2018 13:29

Is he learning to drive yet? Maybe something related?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/11/2018 13:35

We got DS his Provisional for his 17th (about £35)
Young Driver lessons are the same price as any other but in a car park not the open road.
And the Instructors are all geared round teens .

PinkBuffalo · 30/11/2018 15:49

Ggirl27 I'm glad he enjoyed it! I'm out of ideas though. Good luck!

buckeejit · 30/11/2018 15:50

He needs an electric hot water bottle too! Or a latex pillow. Portable chargers are good. A smart plug for his dot to switch lamp (or blanket) off & on by voice or phone.

Voucher for audible?

BearSoFair · 30/11/2018 16:21

I know you said not big on clothes but a water repellent hoodie? DS1 is getting one from my parents, it's from Vans, £50 I think. He hates wearing a proper jacket so this should be an improvement on a regular hoodie that he just gets wet in!
