Fresh turkey-availble in store?

When will fresh turkeys appear in store?

Have a HUGE group over next weekend (has to be turkey unfortunately), and I don't fancy the worry of defrosting the bird(s) in time.

Does anyone know?

IIRC! not until a very few days before Christmas - 22nd/23rd - but if you have a butcher locally, you may be able to order one.

A frozen one is fine, as long as you allow plenty of time for defrosting. A big one could take 48 hours.

If you don't have fridge space once it's thawed, keep it in a cold box or bag, with ice packs.

I was on Tesco today and they had fresh turkey crowns in.

Wonderful, thank you both!

Right, will call the local butcher, then check Tesco. If neither prove fruitful (or truthfully cost too much) I'll go frozen.

Wish me luck.

Think Asda is around the 19th December.
