I've never understood the need for a 'main' present. Just get more small/medium sized things if there is nothing more expensive they want.

@BumblebeeBum
Great idea on Fitbit ace! Getting that

ALemonyPea · 26/11/2018 11:22

DS3 has asked for a Fitbit.

MrsPear · 26/11/2018 14:16

Mine asked for a Lego set too - an arctic one with a plane. I’m sure there are special parts he wants instead.

Vicious2018 · 26/11/2018 14:53

Our ds wanted Star Wars Lego but instead of buying one big one we got him several smaller ones so that he can play battles and gets more mini figures. Dd got big Lego set.

ihearttc · 26/11/2018 16:48

DS is 8 and is getting a Hoverboard and Kart and a Kano Harry Potter Coding Wand.

We got him an Anki Overdrive last christmas (well for him and his older brother) and he loved it.

Lazybonita · 26/11/2018 17:13

My DS9 is getting a load of Harry Potter Lego, lazer nerf guns and an amazon dot among other things. He is a big how to train your dragon fan so we have some toys from the upcoming movie.

Radiodependent · 26/11/2018 19:20

Our 9 year old has asked for the nerf laser tag guns, not sure we have enough space to play with them though. He also mentioned Jurassic world Lego and an Xbox driving game but it will be either those or nerfs I think. He will get books and a geological time line mug from me too, and both ds s are getting ukuleles.

My 8.5 year old has asked for a robot that responds to commands so we got the Meccano one.

SixToEightInchesOfSnow · 26/11/2018 19:30

Ds’s big presents are a MacBook, Beats headphones (we got a voucher when we bought the MacBook or we wouldn’t spend that much on headphones) and the Harry Potter Lego Great Hall.

Sloegin2 · 26/11/2018 19:59

My 9 year old is having for an iPod nano, Harry Potter Lego, technic Lego, a 3D pen and some books (Dr who/David Walliams) ooh and Harry Potter top trumps

AlienBotanist · 26/11/2018 20:30

sloegin where are you getting a nano, please? I thought they'd stopped selling them? DS wants one... possibly because his sister has one.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/11/2018 22:49

Oh my goodness I hadn't heard of the Kano Harry Potter wand until this thread and now I'm wavering! I've got DS Hot Wires which he will like, but he loves building stuff AND he loves Harry Potter! I'm going to have to switch, aren't I? They only get one 'big' gift from us and if I give him both I'd have to buy another big thing for DD and then WHERE WILL IT END???

The wand is supposed to be pretty cool, right? He's got a Kindle Fire from last year - anyone know if it works with those?

Argh. I always do this. Shop too early and twitch!

WellTidy · 26/11/2018 22:57

WHAT about one of those mini Polaroid cameras?

WellTidy · 26/11/2018 23:05

Could someone recommend me a 3D pen or kit or whatever this involves please? I am clearly years behind the times but I’ve never heard of them and arty DS would like one, I think. It has to be straightforward to use though as although he is 10, I suspect dyspraxia.

CookingGood · 26/11/2018 23:16

Mini Polaroid cameras cost so much in paper - 10 shots for £15! My niece took 10 shots in 3 minutes!
Would be cheaper in the long run to buy a normal digital camera and printer
