Table dressing and centerpieces

We're having our first Christmas at home and I'm looking for inspiration for the dinner table and/or centrepiece.

It'll just be the 4 of us including a 5 yr old and 10month old baby. So something baby friendly possibly involving crafts for the eldest.

Is the 5yo at school? If so it's fairly likely she/he will come home with a decoration at some point before the end of term, which could very easily turn into the middle of Christmas table. A candle and a couple of extra bits of greenery and a big plate (to catch the candle grease) will do the biz.

It's her first year at school. Didn't know she'd be bring bits home. That's good fingerscrossed for a masterpiece :)

Can you pick up some of those place name cards and get DD to write (if she's able to) each name and draw a token Xmas pic. DD does this every year, it's a tradition.

How about getting some little bells / plastic holly and making homemade napkin favours.
