I was in M and S yesterday and their posh biscuits were BOGOF.

AuchAyeTheNo · 23/11/2018 16:14

Thanks everyone! Really struggling to decide now. I might just have to buy a few myself to try first Grin

70 we can spend upto £20 and its a secret santa so i was going to buy maybe 3 loads, one normal, one with nuts and one with chocolate. Its basically for the whole office to share between us rather than just for one person.

I recently bought some custard creams which came in a tin which looks like a giant custard cream. They've all gone. Not sure they'd count as posh though. What about those Breton butter biscuits - they're lovelier than they sound and look exotic.

I'm sure you can get island bakery biscuits from Waitrose!

WittgensteinsBunny · 23/11/2018 17:48

Island Bakery lemon melts are dreamy!

of course you do........you weren't going to give them without taste testing them first were you? Xmas Wink

AdaColeman · 23/11/2018 17:54

Percy's Bakery are lovely, with unusual flavour combinations.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/11/2018 18:03

Waitrose do German Lebkuchen.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 23/11/2018 19:30

M&S had boxed Belgian chocolate biscuits on display today, I think they were £6, buy one get one free. (but not absolutely certain on the price so could be wrong!)

WoollyMollyMonkey · 23/11/2018 19:33

If you want a bargain, our Asda were selling off Jaffa Cakes, lemon & lime flavour, for just 20p a box!

Chocolate Olivers

Biscuiteers make amazing very special gifts when someone moves house or has a baby, and we get the kids a box of baubles at Christmas to hang on the tree as they hate cake/pudding/mince pies, but they're bloody extravagant and I wouldn't do it for a secret Santa.

Island Biscuits are really delicious. John Lewis also sell the Byron Bay cookie company range which are really nice and slightly unusual.

If you're willing to consider chocolates, there's a company called Audrey's who manufacture all Fortnum and Mason's own brand chocolates for them, and they also sell direct to the public for half the price. At Easter Fortnums sell eggs for £40, and Audrey's sell them for £15, for example. All handmade with complicated sugar flower bouquets on them. Literally the exact same products. Might be worth a look? The website is awful but the products the same, and the recipient doesn't see the website! You can fill a box by choosing the chocolates you want as well, one by one, which is always helpful.

A hint of warning - some people have to avoid chocolate.

Lebkuchen are quite a nice choice. If I was eating them myself I like a chewy oat cookie with fruit or candied ginger.

What do you call those very dry Italian things wrapped in paper?

perfectstorm · 24/11/2018 01:57

Amaretti biscuits, you mean?

And yes, some do need to avoid chocolate... but I think even more need or choose to avoid gluten, so biscuits are also something that needs consideration, perhaps.

Then again, there's always reluctant regifting possible with really nice pressies!

nice to see someone got out of the right side of the bed

It would actually be nice to BE in bed- I’m always posting around 3am up with a baby!!!
FWIW I wasn’t really “having a pop” at the username and I am sorry it and across that way...but I did also make suggestions for you first!!

Also- would a big box of different biscuits like those suggested here work for the budget? If you’re buying a few different bits, Definitely try the chocolate/toffee shortbread from Orkney that they sell in Aldi. It’s lush.

discopisco · 24/11/2018 04:37

Farmhouse Biscuits- best biscuits in the world. I buy tins of the stuff and hand them out as presents. Everyone loves them.

Island Bakery - lemon and white chocolate rounds. Utterly delicious.
Biscuiteers are nice enough but I think it's the decorative metal tin and the bright colourful icing that is more appealing. Their biscuits are very very sweet and nothing too special.

ALemonyPea · 25/11/2018 16:10

I quite like Border biscuits.

The price of biscuits from Biscuiteers is crazy! Do they taste amazing?

LoniceraJaponica · 25/11/2018 20:42

I love Border biscuits, especially the butterscotch ones.

Ringtons biscuits are gorgeous as well.

Serin · 25/11/2018 23:30

Not expensive enough for you but Waitrose lavender shortbread hearts and rose shortbread are gorgeous.

PrettyPurplePanda · 26/11/2018 03:46

AuchAyeTheNo Try Cartwright & Butler maybe? They have adorable biscuit tins and a lovely selection to pick from.
