Thread 12 - where we hope Black Friday doesn't turn out to just be slightly grey

@Reastie is obviously busy getting her sprouts on, so I've set up a new thread just to keep us moving.

Previous thread here with Reastie's usual helpful posts.

Remember everyone, it's only a bargain if you need it and check it hasn't been cheaper before/isn't cheaper somewhere else! Happy Thanksgiving Xmas Wink

I've gone from nothing to almost finished. I still need:

Maltesers
Toblerones (anyone seen good prices?)
A water pik which rather annoyingly is currently reduced in boots but out of stock
A framed panic at the disco photo thing for dd I've seen on amazon

I think that's it. Went a bit mad on Black Friday beauty boxes I'm dreading them arriving now 😬 But I still really want the new special glossybox that comes out Monday

Oreocrumbs · 24/11/2018 09:00

I did well from Black Friday. Partly because of timing, my aunt (who is ill) asked me to do her Xmas shopping on Thursday night, so I bought things from retailers with 25% off.

There were a few things on amazon I was pleased with. A Melissa and Doug toy my friend had asked for went from £14.99 to £11.69, the diary I buy each year went from £14.99 to £11.99. I bought a big chillys bottle for £15 (for DM who isn't bothered about the pattern) and some other bits. Nothing huge in terms of discount really but a few pounds off things I was going to buy.

I did have one lucky strike though, I bought dd some cheap headphones from my aunt for £14 on Friday morning as there nothing listed as upcoming. I had 5 mins to wait in the car at tea time so had a browse and low and behold the same headphones were coming up as a lightening deal at that moment. And they dropped to £8 odd so I cancelled the first order and bought that.

I also bought a gtech hoover on amazon that had £50 off.

Overall I did well but none of these things have wide appeal I should think, it just happened to be random things from my list.

Does anyone have any AO codes please

Alanamackree · 24/11/2018 09:08

I’ve been done for Christmas for a while but had my eye on a couple of things in the long term but nothing useful in Black Friday for me. I was checking what I paid for the stuff I’ve already bought against the prices yesterday and I did as well and mostly better on everything. So definitely a grey Friday here.

OldBrownShoe · 24/11/2018 09:11

I’ve had this email, don’t know if the deal is of any use or interest to anyone

Thank you to everyone on here. I'm officially finished my shopping and without you all and various codes and offers would have paid much more for it.

eyestightshut · 24/11/2018 09:20

@BeauticianNotMagician81: ao.mention-me.com/me/referee/registerko/26862083/109988969/em/f46ff723c830b96fda31b7ff9737340ce381d258/ol/cw?epr=1
It's a referral one and not sure if it will work if you have already purchased from so before but worth a go!

PinkDaydreams · 24/11/2018 09:20

I couldn’t find the chillys bottles which I’m gutted about. Has the offer on them now finished on amazon?

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 24/11/2018 09:21

@eyestightshut I'm going to use that thanks.

I've just found this deal so cancelling my last order. Well sending back as it's been dispatched.

@RJnomore1 there were Toblerones and maltesers in the Amazon pantry deal that was mentioned on the last thread - buy £30 worth of stuff and get £10 off. I popped a couple of £3 toblerones in my box. May be cheaper elsewhere though - I didn’t check.
I am also finding this whole extended Black Friday week/month very stressful - not knowing whether to buy stuff when an offer comes along or wait for a better one. And there are now far too many amazon lightening deals to sift through. A few years ago, there weren’t so many and I remember looking through all the ones coming up and getting good ideas of what to buy people but now it’s just too overwhelming. And often not that bargainous.

Someaddedsugar · 24/11/2018 09:31

Monica Vinader has 30% off everything and then an additional flash sale each day with up to 50% off full price - some really nice piece set that make beautiful gifts. They also come boxed and in a rose gold gift bag.

Oreocrumbs · 24/11/2018 09:33

Ooh I've just bought my Christmas present! All sole have code AS30 for 30% off everything. And code UGG40 for 40% off ugg. I've just bought ugg slippers for £48 rather than the usual £80.

Cashback through Quidco as well.

Bangwhistlepop2 · 24/11/2018 09:33

@RJnomore1 my local Morrison's had a big box of 5 large Toblerones for £5 last week. Not sure if it's online but worth a check.

Bangwhistlepop2 · 24/11/2018 09:37

Toblerone deal

jammiebammie · 24/11/2018 09:43

Thank you very much sudexpress and whirlwind for stranger things, I’ll make a trip to Debenhams (don’t actually RL shop often) to have a look and hopefully find something.

I actually ordered quite a few things from aliexpress, as I’m doing her a stranger things advent calendar - I’ve managed to find 15 things so far 😳 I think the rest I’m just going to get creative with lol.

Double checked and it’s Walmart they have the ST pez, they come in a little set for $10 (mike and eleven or Dustin & Lucas). I’ve found some on eBay but would cost about £25 delivered (which I’m not prepared to pay for 2 little pez dispensers!!)

GoodnightMooncup · 24/11/2018 09:44

I thought black Friday was a let down too. It's badly timed for me anyway because my payday is next week.

caffeineanddryshampoo · 24/11/2018 09:49

I can't decide whether I prefer "Barrie's Dream House" or "Rick and Mortuary" for typos Grin

HoneyDragon · 24/11/2018 09:55

I think there is definitely a gap in the market for a Barrie’s Dream Mortuary™️

I’d be first in the queue.

DeezMutts · 24/11/2018 09:55

Another one underwhelmed by Black Friday. Although maybe because for the first year ever I’m not looking for Lego/Playmobil type deals for my dc Sad

lookingforbaubles · 24/11/2018 09:56

@jammiebammie have you looked at amazon.com for ST pez - maybe the postage wouldnt be so crazy using amazon.com ??

scrappydappydoo · 24/11/2018 10:02

Whoever was looking for pez - the range normally have pez dispensers in store - might be worth a look on the off chance they have stranger things version?

Someaddedsugar · 24/11/2018 10:14

Free 250 piece 24 in 1 Lego set with any order over £20 - it’s a one time O2 Priority code so hopefully someone can make use of it!

Has anyone ever use the silver mini sewing machine as am thinking about getting for DD (just turned 8?) but even discounted I’m not sure if it’s worth £39? Or any other beginner sewing machine recommendations would be gratefully recieved!

RemyRelax · 24/11/2018 10:36

@1stTimeMama Thank you so much. You’re a star!

Ewock · 24/11/2018 10:46

I think I'm being a bit dim here with the freddies flowers. Do you have to sign up and then cancel once the first flowers have come? I had a look on their site but couldnt find any info. Thanks
