Voucher for 21 year old...

My best friend's daughter is turning 21 just before Christmas and I would like to give her a voucher to buy herself something special. My question is, what kind of voucher would have the 'wow' factor? Superdry? White Company? I only have boys so am no expert in which brands young women really like! Any suggestions very gratefully received....thank you!

Cash is the only decent voucher. That way they turkey can spend it on something they want.

I agree with PP, you never know if she'll like the company you get a voucher for so I'd suggest cold hard cash.

The perfume shop, iTunes, meal for 2, amazon, boots, Superdrug there are lots of places that any age could use those types of vouchers.

spanishwife · 20/11/2018 13:51

ASOS or Zara for sure. But agree with PPs - vouchers are the worst because you have to want something from that shop and carry the card in your purse, so annoying! If you aren't going to get a physical present, just do cash, it's the same anyway as you know how much £ is on there.

I’d say Superdry is more for boys and she’d need to add money if she wanted to buy anything other than a T Shirt. TWC I don’t know anyone under 30 that’s bought something from there.

ASOS, a post office one for all, restaurant voucher, Zara. I love a river island voucher personally (mid twenties)

Thanks all! It does seem a bit sad to just give cash, but I take on board the comments about being restricted to one shop etc....perhaps the post office multi vouchers are the way to go. The family are pretty well off, so £25 is going to be a drop in the ocean - which was why I wanted a gift with a bit more thought behind it! It's very hard these days when a lot of young people already have everything they need.

I hate to put a damper on things, but it is actually quite a high risk strategy to buy gift vouchers this year unless they are generic from the Post Office or a particular shopping centre, due to the precarious position of many high street chains. Superdry is one of the vulnerable brands as there are only so many products with Superdry written on them that people want to buy.

newtothisriver · 20/11/2018 21:23

If you want a gift with a bit of thought behind it you need to buy a gift.

If I was giving a voucher to my 20yr old niece I would chose Urban Outfitters, because I know she loves it. You need to ask her Mum what shops she likes.

StopTheSundayBlues · 20/11/2018 21:35

I'm 20 and I'd love a voucher from White Company or maybe Boden (if they do vouchers), or M&S

But a gift is more personal, perhaps get her something you know she used? One year I was gifted my shade of foundation that I use, from the brand I use. I was chuffed. Saved me £35 next time I ran out Grin

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 20/11/2018 21:36

What about a voucher for a manicure or towards a facial?

Angelinthenight · 21/11/2018 10:36

Mac if she likes make up, zara, topshop or river lsland for clothes, boots if she likes perfume etc
People always say no vouchers on here but ive got 5 children age 21-5 and they love getting a voucher. To be safe id ask your friend where she shops ask her fave shop and get from there x

StopTheSundayBlues · 21/11/2018 12:08

Mac is awful for make up, apart from their lipsticks which are okay

newtothisriver · 21/11/2018 13:13

Agree. My DD loves make up but she wouldn't touch MAC. She is much younger but already outgrown the fad after realising how crap the actual products are.

NotReve · 21/11/2018 13:25

I agree Urban Outfitters if there’s one nearby (though they do have online). Maybe a department store for makeup?
