Light box for 9 year old who loves tracing?

My ds9 loves to trace pictures. I’ve seen a light box on amazon for £20 which I’m considering getting.
Does anyone have experience of these? Will be use it or revert back to holding his paper against the window?

Trying to have a no tat Xmas so don’t want to buy pointless gifts.

Also any ideas on tracing books with intricate pictures?

I have an A3 one of these lightboxes and they're great. It comes with a usb cable but I plug the cable into a spare iPhone charger and it works fine. Printer paper is fine with the lights on bit if your DC use thicker paper (like for painting) then they do work better with the curtains closed and lights off.

Amazon has some great thin LED lit lightboxes. I found the micro-usb socket very fragile - ok for a careful adult but maybe not kid friendly. They are great for tracing though.

I bought one for DD2 2 years ago when she asked Santa for 'surprises'. She wasn't as enthusiastic about as I'd hoped.m, but I think maybe I had misjudged the surprises thing and should have bought plastic tat. However, when she has used it she's said how great it is and it seems really good quality and is easy to use. Amazon doesn't have the one I bought anymore but I spent about £20 at the time and the brand was SAVFY. It was A3 and I think that's worth it as even if tracing into A4 paper there is room to position it.

What do people use them for these days? I used to use them in the good old days of hand-done page make-up (proofs).

I have an a3 light box from Amazon and find it very good. I think it would be fine for a 9yo.

And I use mine for producing replica medieval manuscripts (admittedly probably not a hobby a 9yo will share). My 7yo has a smaller light box she uses for producing fashion designs.
