Hello,
I am hosting my first Christmas this year, just my family of 4 plus my parents but I want it to be lovely so looking for some advice. I want to get a nice cloth tablecloth, cloth napkins and candle sticks which are nice but don’t cost the earth. I have seen some on H&M Home but have no experience of stuff from there, anyone know if it’s decent? Or any recommendations of good places to look for these things? Thank you.

One of my favourite table set uos (I Use for New Year rather than Christmas) - white cover (You could get a large white bedsheet or indeed any colour )
A chiffony cover overlay that has tiny silver spots (I got mine from The Range years ago, it goes in the wash in a net bag and still has all its silver) . It's on the rolls so I bought enough to cover our table plus drape

If you want candles on the table , maybe those LED candles , (safer) or I used to put a huge glass bowl with floating candles (add some spary confetti stars )

Not too much o the table , by the time you get the food out , there's no room Xmas Grin

Red table runner from IKEA, red candles from IKEA, some sprigs of greenery and some red glittery reindeers from poundland. Lifted the idea from a magazine. Looked a little kitsch but very festive and people loved it.

What's your style? Ikea, surprisingly, have some nice linen tablecloths, if you like things quite simple? As always, Pinterest is your friend!

Do you have a fabric shop nearby that you could go and browse?
I have a couple of lengths of upholstery fabric that I will eventually get round to gemming that I use as table cloths. They are unusual and get lots of compliments.
Because certain tones and colours are will be in fashion, you’ll generally find other complimentary fabrics if you buy them at the same time. You could overlay a patterned fabric with a plain runner and get fabric to make napkins as well. If sewing isn’t your thing a pinking shears will prevent fraying.
