What next after Lego Boost?

DS is 7, he had Lego boost and Hot Wires last Christmas. Has played with them both heaps. He also got for his birthday the Ninjago dragon that can be Lego Boost-ed.

Would love to get him something along these lines again as it really has been lovely to see him get stuck into these projects for so long.

thanks!

Thames and Kosmos Robotics Smart Machines or Meccano MAX

No help (sorry!) but I’m glad to hear Lego Boost and snap circuits were a hit, as have both for our son this year. Following for future ideas.

Lego mindstorms

Those robots look great riceKrispie22 I'm not sure though whether another robot is the way to go, I don't know really. I've looked at micro:bit, but looks maybe a bit advanced - anyonre know much about these?

The lego mindstorms would be the obvious option but its so expensive and maybe can wait a year... he'd bloody love it though.

Any other ideas?

I have to say that whilst the mindstorms is the natural extension I think he’d be better waiting a couple of years. Are there not extension sets for the Boost?

I’ve ordered DS this book,

The Lego boost ideas book

ilovetosleep · 14/11/2018 14:31

That book is perfect watermelon! thank you.

yes I had thought mindstorms would be better left for a couple of years too.

I'll get him that book and I'm still on the hunt for something bigger. I saw this but think its basically hotwires in different packaging?Although maybe has different experiments...
