Best Christmas Days Out

Can anyone recommend any Christmas days out that are actually worth the invariably extortionate prices?! I've always been a bit disappointed by places that we've been to in past years. I'm currently thinking of booking the Birmingham Polar Express. I'm based in the Midlands and have a 4yr old and 8yr old and would really, really appreciate suggestions or experiences. Thanks!

Sorry not much advice but following

It might be worth sharing the less successful days out anyone's had!

We went to Warwick Castle which was very expensive, devoid of atmosphere and not much really going on. We also did the Severn Valley steam train which was alright but there was a very long queue to see Father Christmas in the freezing cold which meant we'd all had enough by the time we got to see him.
We went to the huge Panto with Bradley Walsh last year which was dire, littlest DD and I went home at the interval!

Drayton manor is great at Christmas. We go every year.

Bit far for you but friends son went to Keilder Forest with the smalls and they loved it.

Drayton Monor has been good in the past. when my dd's were smaller we went to Sundown Adventure Land which had special events/santa etc for Christmas.

This year we are going to Nottingham Christmas market, they have an ice rink there and fair ground rides etc, hoping they'll be carol singing and it'll feel festive!

Drayton manor sounds good

mossyroundhill · 15/11/2018 19:08

Second Nottingham Market, it's lovely.

We're trying Thomas Land this year Grin

I also put this in the other thread.

Has anyone been to the following g and are they any good?

Lapland uk
Thomasland
Peppa Pig world
Legoland
Polar express Tamworth
Longleat festival light

Momasita · 15/11/2018 19:20

Longleat and santa train.
Lapland UK but still not worth top dollar.
Lego was actually OK...

Notso · 15/11/2018 19:33

Has anyone been to the Santa Sleepover at Alton Towers?

albazavi · 15/11/2018 19:42

It might be a bit far but Thursford at Christmas is magical. Proper old fashioned Christmas magic. Went as a child 25 years ago- took toddler DS last year and wasn't disappointed.

CallMePea · 15/11/2018 19:49

We do Drayton Manor's Christmas event every year. (Not too expensive for me as I'm a single parent with just one child, so it's manageable). As a big family I wouldn't be to.
We love it though, worth looking into!

We do twin lakes every year on Christmas Eve. Santa is fab and the kids love the atmosphere and rides.
