Board game recommendations please

I am looking for recommendations for Board or card games that can be played by 2 people. Most of the ones I know of need more people to be worth playing.
Also preferably not crime based or word games (don't like anagrams, countdown etc).
Does anyone know of any good 2 player games?

I have put this in the Christmas topic as it will be a present, hope that is ok.

Battleships and Jenga

Not so much a board game but think words is really good, seeing what people come up with is always fun 😊😊

Monopoly Deal is bloody fantastic and hugely addictive card game version of the bigger board game. We've played it with various friends and family all of whom have since bought it themselves. Great stocking filler

Second Jaipur, Hive and Backgammon for two.

Also have a look at Catan (2 player, card based), Cribbage, Bezique, Agricola (all creatures big and small) and Caverna (cave vs cave). The last two have larger versions which can also be played by two, but they are more of an investment!
