Gift for 17yo boy

I’ve joined the Met appeal to buy a present for a local child who wouldn’t otherwise get one this year and have been given a 17yo male to buy for! Help! I know nothing about them: what they like or dont like just their age
Any bright ideas? Or am I best with a gift voucher?!

I'd suggest a Steam voucher but that assumes they have a console or laptop... how about a box with socks, Lynx, chocolate, sweets?

What is your budget?

MrsAird · 09/11/2018 19:51

A metal puzzle to disentangle
Ted Baker bodywash
Japanese sweets
beanie hat
gloves
leather belt
washbag
nail clippers (if allowed under box rules)

Ooh yes smellies is a nice idea. Think I’ll go get a selection of things. Budget maybe £20? Not sure how much to spend!

titchy that’s where my mind went but not sure what they have at all so didn’t want to assume and give them something they couldn’t use

we cannot gift food items or anything electrical, battery powered Etc

I also have a 17 yr old boy this year (and everyone else I know that has signed up has also been allocated a teenager)

Last year I had a younger teen and bought either a cinema or Nando’s voucher - I can’t remember which one I decided on in the end.

This year I want to buy an actual “gift”.

I’m thinking maybe a rucksack filled with a few bits. If the child is in care or a refugee they may move around quite a bit, so might welcome their own bag. I dunno? It’s so difficult!

My teenage boys would love nice smellies - Jack Wills etc, food vouchers, chocolate, pyjama bottoms

goodnessgrace · 09/11/2018 21:45

How do you join these schemes???

They may/may not have electrical devices so £1 ship multi plug would be good - has chargers for most phones etc.
Voucher for Greggs/Costa etc to let them be part of a 'normal' teen experience.
Nice/trendy deodorant/shower gel
Good pens set and notebooks - ie nice stuff for school so they're not 'the poor relation'
Gloves - smart phone ones - even if they do t have one they'll look like they do
Brand name socks/pants
Funny chocolates
Card games/deck of cards

KTD27 thanks for sharing the link. I am going to donate something. I see on the website they suggest a gift card for a teenager

KTD27 · 10/11/2018 14:13

I got a Nando’s card. Genius idea. Might stuff some smellies in my basket next time I’m at the shops too
