For a very inquisitive and on the ball 8 year old! He loves those 2 games so am looking for inspiration!! Thanks.

Set Card game
Blink card game
Sushi Go Party
Bears vs Babies

Something completely different which my 7 year old begs to play daily is One night Werewolf, each round only takes a few minutes and fun for adults too, although I am tiring of it having played it so much!

jocktamsonsbairn · 08/11/2018 21:13

Thank you! I think he would love a game that he plays daily but his parents might not like it just as much!!!

Very different to Exploding Kittens, but I've always found Once Upon a Time to be a great hit with dc around that age (also very funny with adults after a few beers when the stories tend to get a bit more X-rated Grin )

jocktamsonsbairn · 08/11/2018 21:16

Just looked at bears versus babies - think he'd like that!!!

Before I Kill You, Mr Bond is another one that is great fun (I have a very old version where you can 'improve your lair' with a 'thermal facsimile' - it looks to have been rather updated since then!)

strawberrie · 08/11/2018 21:22

Cobra Paw is similar to Dobble and good fun

MegBusset · 08/11/2018 21:25

Pass The Pigs
Labyrinth
Cluedo

cornflakegirl · 08/11/2018 21:27

Set
Sushi Go
Love Letters (not actually at all soppy!)
Zombie dice

Agree with pp that One Night Ultimate Werewolf is v popular with that age - they enjoy being able to outsmart the adults!

Echobelly · 08/11/2018 21:43

Fluxx - bit more complicated, but fun.

TalesOfStepford · 08/11/2018 21:59

Oh we are huge board game fans! Rat a Tat Cat is great because it’s very easy to pick up and addictive whatever your age. Also Gubs is quite similar to Exploding Kittens. We like Fluxx too but I agree it’s a bit complicated at first.

TrickyD · 09/11/2018 07:32

'Sleeping Queens' is very popular here. Exploding kittens less so.

bastedyoungturkey · 10/11/2018 21:23

Quirkle?

Anfield824766 · 14/01/2019 19:51

Pictureka!

EstoLargo · 14/01/2019 21:44

My 7yo got Gubs for Christmas - I found the rules impenetrable (maybe it was the eggnog) but watched a few YouTube videos and now it’s a big hit. Similar to XK in that you can be really mean to other players but has more random events.

Methenyouplus4 · 19/01/2019 20:30

Zombie Dice
Rhino head
Hey that's my fish
Dicey goblins
Tsuro
Abracada What?
King of Tokoyo (nearly 6yo loves this but needs help reading cards (which is fine as doesn't spoil game for other players).

Massive board game household here!

SinceYouAskMe · 19/01/2019 20:45

Agree that Fluxx is a good cheap option.

explodingkitten · 19/01/2019 20:47

Posting for inspiration on a new username Grin

pongopig · 19/01/2019 20:48

Pass the Pigs and Sushi Go are my recommendations.

Hungrypuffin · 19/01/2019 20:58

Hive is great and very addictive.

Methenyouplus4 · 19/01/2019 21:26

Oh yeah, Sushi Go is good too.

Deminism · 19/01/2019 23:25

Mine are enjoying junior labyrinth and ludo.

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 19/07/2019 23:57

Unstable Unicorns is the absolute best of these types of games

TalkingOrmer · 20/07/2019 12:28

Sleeping Queens is a great game if you like exploding kittens.

Curious2468 · 21/07/2019 00:24

Dragonwood!
Kingdomino
Cobra paw
Quirkle
Labyrinth
Carcasonne

Stompythedinosaur · 23/07/2019 19:54

Hive and Tatsu are much loved by my 8yo.
