Hi everyone, My daughter is 10 & i'm really struggling with gifts for Christmas because she is too young for most things & too old for most things too. I have asked her what she would like & she said Camera, Makeup & a unicorn onesie but i'm still struggling. Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions? I would be very grateful GrinWink

My daughter will almost be 10 at Xmas. I agree it can be a difficult age. I will miss all the toys. Sad

Does your daughter still like any toys ? My daughter is definitely less interested this year but still likes certain plush toys and squishes. She likes unicorns and flamingos. 🦄 My daughter has asked for a keyboard as she loves music. How about art things, stationery, slime, merchandise from favourite pop groups. My daughter loves her iPad as she uses music and drawing apps on it as well as spending too much time on YouTube If your daughter has one, how about headphones ?

Asj0405 · 06/11/2018 12:56

Does she like board games?
If she likes baking maybe a cake pop/muffin/donught maker, bit easier for her to do on her own
Books
Does she like Harry potter (possibilities are endless)
Arty things
Jewellery
Something for her room
Tablet or games console depending on budget
Headphones
Tickets for something maybe

We are exactly the same predicament as my DD turned 10 in September...

She still kinda believes in Santa too which I think makes if extra tricky as you can’t have that “there is only limited funds chat”

My DD had a pony so we do tend to use things for him and riding stuff that they would need anyway as bulkers...

Does your DD do a hobby, nice dance leggings, running shoes etc?

Lol’s for another year running seem to be quite popular here, and there are various priced sets that go with them?

Mis-matched stud earrings? My daughter loves them, and quite cool, managed to get a moon and star set and Saturn and a rocket.

Pink Cat ear headphones that light up, so cute and functional for all the bad music she is suddenly into...

An Alexa dot, we are buying a 2nd one this year for DD as younger sisters had one and they are always arguing over it, can play Spotify through it and audible stories at bed time too...

We have managed to get a cheaper GoPro camera with good reviews with 50 pieces, harness’s tripods etc, my daughter will use it with riding but can be used for anything and is water proof for holiday, this was a gamble as not on our list but think she will like it..

New David William or Jaqueline Wilson books

We got a really good rose gold and grey Fitbit on EBay which is still in its original box and looks as new, This will be my DD’s main present but cost us £50 instead of £200 my youngest daughter is getting the the Disney Garnin tracker and that also looks good.

Squishes, EBay, cheap as chips, load of different shapes (very effective sack bulkers)

Harry Potter Lego set

Neon rainbow light for her wall (from Firebox) another surprise but something a bit different if your DD’s into unicorns etc...

Unicorn dressing gown and slippers

A more grown up pair of trainers, DD has asked for vans...

Hope that helps, if it makes you feel any better I have 3 DD’s to buy for and none of them are a particularly easy age!!

Jemimafuckinpuddleduck · 06/11/2018 13:28

Sorry that should have read GoPro “style” we certainly didn’t go out and buy our 10 year old a GoPro!! Grin

Casablanca78 · 06/11/2018 15:00

My DD is also 10.

She's massively in to slime still So I've caved and bought the poopsie unincorn surprise (luckily not at full price).

She's also asked for the TY beanie boo flippable unicorn (will be like unicorn poo trying to get hold of one).

She's also asked for make up and I've bought her some adidas leggings and sweatshirt (now she's sadly rejecting all the beautiful Boden in her wardrobe, sob).

Casablanca78 · 06/11/2018 15:01

Oh and new trainers here also -found some cool grey camo ones in the adidas sale for £35 that I know she'll love.

xRoyalty · 06/11/2018 16:02

Thank you everyone, you have gave me lots of ideas SmileI think she would love books because she loves reading & she would love Pink Cat Headphones, where did you buy them from? if u don't mind me asking? Wink
I will have a look at the Alexa now & Adidas trainers Smile

A suggestion I loved on here for my 9yo believer was a rock tumbler, gems and jewellery wires etc.

Justforonequestion · 06/11/2018 18:37

Not sure whether you are looking for a big present idea or smaller ones but things my DD either has on wants include:

  • kindle
  • electric keyboard
  • camera
  • Lush or Body Shop stuff
  • yoga mat
  • stationery, especially personalised sets
  • mini backpack
  • hair curler/wand thing
Joanne1991 · 06/11/2018 20:52

If your daughter loves colouring how about a nice colouring book maybe a simple adult colouring book

PiggeryPorcombe · 07/11/2018 09:32

Following this thread. Dd is just 10 and still plays with her toys a lot (lol dolls, Barbies, Sylvanians, Playmobil and her baby dolls) but doesn’t want to add to them anymore. She’s got tons of clothes, art stuff, accessories etc already and said she doesnt want any tech!

I’m tempted to just fill her stocking with squishies and slime as that’s all I can think of getting Grin

oobedobe · 07/11/2018 20:17

My 10 yo is getting quite into games and collectables. Not into clothes/beauty stuff at all. She is getting:
minecraft lego set
Pop vinyl figures,
Ripleys believe it or not book
The Menagerie Trilogy books (by the author of Wings of Fire)
Game of Life boardgame

We are probably getting a switch as a family gift so not going crazy on individual presents this year.

What about a fuji instax camera?

Walkthroughthefire · 07/11/2018 21:23

@Casablanca, Toyhub uk have some unicorns available
flippables

nuttynutjob · 07/11/2018 21:43

SMIGGLE - advent calendar, stationery set, light projector, scrapbook, pencil case, drinks bottle, wallet, media pouch etc

Harry Potter merch- dolls, keychains, book, audiobook,

Rainbocorns?
Polly Pocket Pocket World?

Sharpie Pens set
Tube Superstar

fuzzyKitty · 07/11/2018 21:44

My DD is really into puzzle games.

Got her the ThinkFun Traffic puzzle last year ( Amazon link) which kept me her amused for hours.

This year will either go for the smart games Temple Trap (similar to traffic puzzle but more Indy - slide bits of temple around to let the explorer out) or the lazer maze amazon link or Smart Games IQ puzzle amazon link.

Another hit last year was Hot Wires snap together circuits - bit more ££ but pretty engaging, although I thought some of the components could do with more explanation amazon again.

BrieAndChilli · 07/11/2018 21:49

A £20 cinema gift card wrapped up with some popcorn/sweets/crisps, with a promise to take her and a couple of friends to see a film.

A relative gave that to my daughter last year and she loved it, I got their tickets sorted and let them go in alone while I had a coffee and mooch round the shops nearby. They felt so grown up!!

Dontbestupidagain · 09/11/2018 10:19

My dd is 10 (11 next month)

She is getting:
A hairdryer for her room
A google home mini
A fitbit type watch
Running jacket from decathlon
A tatty devine jewelry box and some notecards
A joules bobble hat
David Walliams book
Set of fossil rings
Book of Me
A waff journal
A little wooden mouse
socks

These are all her presents btw (inc stocking). I buy throughout the year from places like tkmaxx to get good bargains

alphajuliet123 · 09/11/2018 10:56

Wait until the Smiggle offers start later this month and sign up to the emails from them, I got some amazing bargains last year, a couple of things were cheaper to buy 2 than just 1 so my present drawer got topped up too.

xRoyalty · 09/11/2018 16:02

Do you think this is too young for a 10 year old? I'm thinking of ordering it for DD but then i'm thinking is she too old? 🤷🏼‍♀️
