I always buy a real tree but husband is desperate to save money. Where can I buy the best Christmas tree that looks really real. We usually spend £50 a year but obviously this will be an investment. But no more than £250

coragreta · 30/10/2018 10:53

Looks good. Have you ordered from there before?

I have a tree from treetopia and another from amazon and both are great.

Floralnomad · 30/10/2018 14:04

We have a Balsam Hill Fraser fir , 7’ prelit bought in the sales last year for about £280 , it is absolutely beautiful and much better than anything I’ve seen in the shops / garden centres . My dh was very sceptical before we bought it and even he is a convert to BH .

TrickyD · 30/10/2018 15:09

I have just replied on a similar thread to say we were thrilled with the tree we bought these people. Our 8 ft tree is now £229.99, so well within budget.

TrickyD · 30/10/2018 15:11

I obviously meant 'from' these people. We didn't feel they needed us to give them one.

Just came on here to ask about artificial trees - we've always had a real one too. Can anyone recommend one nearer the £50 mark without lights or decorations?

TrickyD · 31/10/2018 15:49

Hereandnow have a look at this one and read the long review.

Thanks TrickyD that looks perfect - but delivery to my remote parts is half as much again! Shock

diodon · 01/11/2018 06:51

I bought this one from Wilkos last year on recommendations from MN and was pleased.

I got it for half price so £40 on 2nd Dec - gues they'll do the same promotion this year if you can wait.

You'll need to check you delivery options though.

We have this one and quite a few visitors mistook it for a real one when we bought it last year. I'm not a fan of the 'triangular' artificial tree look but this is really good for the money

theboxofdelights · 01/11/2018 07:05

Balsam Hill - have just bought a second one after about seven years for another room. Expensive but excellent, great customer service too.

TrickyD · 01/11/2018 15:49

That's a pity, Hereandnow. Balsam Hill are doing free delivery anywhere in the UK until 7 November, but their trees are so expensive, even the fairly small ones.

There is a place in the Lake District that had good ones last year, but I forget its name. Will have a think.

theboxofdelights · 01/11/2018 15:52

I bet balsam hill have another ‘sale’ on 5th November. Honestly, when one offer finishes another one starts. I just missed a ‘sale’, had a tree in my basket but didn’t check out.

A couple of weeks later when one offer ended (October 8th, I remember as it was a significant date at work) the ‘sale’ resumed.

TrickyD · 01/11/2018 16:08

It was Hayes Garden World, but all expensive. Free delivery though.

Drummingisfun · 01/11/2018 16:19

Yep, balsam hill have had a sale for the last month. I've been watching prices.
The 'sale' runs for a week and then anothet begins immediately.

coragreta · 02/11/2018 12:32

Thanks for all the ideas. Some look really good so will pick one with husband later. Just a bit worried they're all slim at the bottom. The real ones I get are very bushy round the bottom to keep presents under.

OP posts:
TrickyD · 02/11/2018 13:45

No presents underneath at that point, coragreta but plenty of room for a cat.

livingthegoodlife · 02/11/2018 21:22

Trickyd your tree is beautiful! Really perfect.

I'm having a tree dilemma this year as we are away this year for Christmas but will celebrate at New year's so I need the tree to still look good.

tootiredtothink · 04/11/2018 17:03

We bought the same as MissMarplesKnitting from Homebase. Have never had so many compliments. Nice and bushy at the bottom too.

If you have the ceiling height definitely go for the 8ft one. We didn’t have the ceiling height, however, I bought it anyway and chopped an inch off the top as I wanted the width. Am going back for the 6ft one for the hallway this year.

Quarter of the price of Balsalm hill but honestly just as good.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 04/11/2018 17:18

We bought this one a couple of years ago. It is stunning, especially when decorated. I'm not normally a fan of white lights, so I do add coloured ones. I thinks it's the best tree we've ever had and a good price.
