Which games console?

DCs are turning 12 and 10.

We are not a big gaming family but our old Wii is on its way out. What games console should we get them to replace it? It's not something they're passionate about so we don't want to spend tonnes on the latest thing, but we do want it to last and have a decent range of games at not ridiculous prices and not be a source of embarrassment for them like the Wii is apparently .

I've tried reading articles online and I can't get my head round all the options. Any pointers would be so gratefully received!

I bought the nintendo ds for my son's 5th birthday. So far it is a hit as he is into mario, sonic, donkey Kong etc. The console came with Mario kart in it which has been fun to play together. It was pretty reasonably priced. I've got a second hand Xbox 360 myself I dip in and out of gaming every few months.

What kind of games do they like to play? It might help steer the recommendations
