What do their friends have? That is the main deciding factor. We have a ps and a switch. PlayStation is the most played with by far. Can play Minecraft, fortnite and Lego games too. Plus good games for older teens (uncharted, Spiderman etc)

We had this dilemma recently and agree with go with what his pals have so they can play online together.

The switch apparently is more gimmicky and likely to get bored with it (my 13 year old niece got one in May and already starting to lose interest)

We went with Xbox because the PS changes/upgrades consoles more and think a PS5 is likely to come out next year, but think between Xbox and the ps it's really just down to individual preference of the kid & friends. Can get all the same games for each console and they all cost about the same.

thanks - do they all play the FIFA games?? this is the requested game!!!!!

Xbox here - but that's because that's what his friends have, I'd definitely try and check!

I don't think the switch can get Fifa but def can on Xbox & PS.
Same with fortnight, fall out, call of duty, red dead etc that tend to be teen faves 👌🏻

If they are proper gamers Xbox or PS, the graphics are better and a greater range of games.

I bought a Switch last Christmas for DD who was 8, it's a fun console if you like Mario type games and it seems more sociable. It has the flexibility that it can be used as a handheld console as well. Perhaps better for younger or less serious gamers.

Literally just seen an advert whilst reading this thread and FIFA19 is available on the Switch.

We have got our DD’s a Switch as a joint Christmas present they are 9 at Christmas and 6. And not seriously into games, they like playing stuff like Just Dance and MarioKart. If they were into gaming I would have gone for something else.

I think PS and Xbox come down to personal choice - or what their friends have. My DH always had PS and would never have an Xbox - he is now 41 and has neither.

Maybe speak to him and see what his friends have and make your decisions from there.

Just saw this pop up on my Facebook feed, in case you do go for an Xbox 1. really good deal as the more basic Xbox 1 alone is £200+.
This is the newer version with 2 additional games for £219.
