I'm thinking of getting my will be 2 1/2 year old a grimms big rainbow for her Xmas present. They're so expensive though and I feel that I should have got her one a year ago. Are they worth it or not?

I want one for myself! My kids are 8 and 5 now so too old for them. I think your DD will love it.

hidinginthenightgarden · 26/10/2018 16:06

Got my daughter one for her 3rd birthday 2 weeks ago and both her and DS(6) like playing with it.
I think I paid £55 for it. It is good quality - DS got some toys for a little less but that were utterly shit quality so yeah I think it is worth it. Less plastic too!

Yura · 26/10/2018 16:10

Yes, if your kids are into building/construction. not so much if barbies or other relatively closed worlds are what they like

seven201 · 26/10/2018 17:20

Hmmmn. I was kind of hoping you'd say they weren't worth it! I think I'll enjoy playing with it and just hope dd enjoys it too. Thanks all

Yes. We loved ours so much, we bought two. DH and I 'extreme rainbow' (Pinterest challenge)

TheMonkeyMummy · 26/10/2018 17:28

Ps: for pp who says her kids were too old, not at all. My kids are 9,8,5&3 and all love it. It's an open ended toy and can be for anything they want.

AlbusPercival · 26/10/2018 17:36

Yep we have two one is mine one is DS. Used every day and he isn’t two yet. Bridges for cars. Corralling toy animals. Building towers. Grandma has bought him the semi circles for his birthday

bootsandcats · 26/10/2018 19:59

We've had ours for nearly a year and they still play with it several times a week. It can be used in so many ways, it's great. My kids are 6 and 3.

obviouslymarvellous · 26/10/2018 20:03

We love ours!!! Even my almost 11 year old ds still makes art shapes with it. I love messing with it too x

obviouslymarvellous · 26/10/2018 20:04

Oh my twin girls 7 never stop playing with it either x

Bear2014 · 26/10/2018 20:05

Yes! I bought one for my rainbow baby (for myself Grin) just after he was born and DD who was 3.5 fell in love with it. She plays with it all the time and guests always want to play with it too.

PippilottaLongstocking · 26/10/2018 20:06

We have it and the semi circles that go with it, planning to get the boards that fit with it too and maybe the bridges for Christmas

PippilottaLongstocking · 26/10/2018 20:06

Posted too soon - we also have a mini 6 piece rainbow, we love them! They often become buildings or fences

Sleephead1 · 26/10/2018 20:11

yes totally worth it. We love ours my little boy is 5 and has had it a year and uses it for loads of things to make houses , city's, caves buildings and stacking I defiantly recommend

seven201 · 26/10/2018 20:25

Ok I'm definitely sold. Any top tips of where to buy online? Or should I just pay the £60 that I've seen it sold at?

Join babipur hangout on Facebook, they will have a 10% discount

seven201 · 26/10/2018 20:43

Thanks Albus

@themonkeymummy how do you Pinterest rainbow challenge?
I love it, agree they shouldn’t grow out at 5. My 3yo likes making boats with it and the boards. I love it, will get a second.

livingthegoodlife · 26/10/2018 20:54

I've bought one for my DD turning 4 in a couple of weeks...

seven201 · 26/10/2018 21:21

Keep an eye out on Babipur hangout and similar pages as they will announce more stock on there, they get restocked fairly often but sell out quickly, especially around Christmas.

TheMonkeyMummy · 26/10/2018 23:34

They are on Amazon

Re: Pinterest challenge, search grind rainbow on Pinterest and try to recreate the images.

Isadora2007 · 27/10/2018 01:11

I’ve bought my 9 year old the smallish (not tiny but small) rainbow and elements as well for her Xmas as she loved the teeny rainbow I bought my grandson.

Sleephead1 · 27/10/2018 07:16

you can request to be notified by babipur when they are back in stock but if you join babipur hangout people sell them second hand so may be worth a look.

hannahbanana2007 · 30/10/2018 19:08

I bought a Grimms rainbow but then a few months after I bought it I wanted the semi circles and found a company called Little Star Toys making reproductions. I bought the semi circles from them and they go perfectly with the Grimms. They sell on amazon but follow them on FB and they will notify when any stock is released so maybe try them too x
