Just had a sort out in my room, and looked through the stash of presents...
Between that and my several shopping baskets waiting until payday, I think we are done present wise! I didn't think I was.

All we need now are some more stocking filler bits and the food.
I think this is the earliest ever that I've been at this stage.
I'm sure that there will be something I have forgotten though! Confused

I haven’t bought anything, it’s only October. I don’t need to be ready until December.

Im going to stick to my list and just buy the whole lot in one hit online one evening (probably Black Friday week).

Food is easy (same as food shopping any other week with a few extras).

I’m not stressing about it this year after realising a 3rd of my year is taken up arranging Christmas.

LexieLulu · 24/10/2018 17:33

I'm more thinking I want to sort my house out before Xmas.

Presents I have a lot but I really want to shift anything I don't need to charity over the next few weeks and re gloss skirting boards etc

Bumbumtaloo · 24/10/2018 17:36

Completely finished shopping, just waiting for my husband to wrap it all.

I have mobility issues and GAD so going to shops is a huge issue for me, I do all of my shopping online and have got some amazing bargains.

canihaveanap · 24/10/2018 17:41

I'm moving house this week. 18 weeks pregnant with dc3
I'm dreading it
I haven't done a thing

Alanamackree · 24/10/2018 17:44

I’m never done. It makes no difference whether I start early or not. But I loathe shopping in December and get as much as possible bought ahead of time so I can hibernate. If Christmas was brought forward to next week I’d manage fine. But on the 23rd of December it will still feel to me like it’s just come out of nowhereHmm

SoyDora · 24/10/2018 17:48

Not done anything. DC3 due on the 27th December and not done anything to prepare for that either. There’s still 2 months left!!

Eminybob · 24/10/2018 17:54

Not even started yet, but have a good idea of what I’m getting.
I’ve just finished work for maternity leave, so after ds is back to school after half term next week, then I’m cracking on. It will all be on line though.
Food shop we do in Aldi, so sadly that will have to be done in real life.

CherryPavlova · 24/10/2018 17:56

A few food items made but no shopping yet.
We always do a last minute flurry around last weekend of Advent.

Honeyroar · 24/10/2018 18:00

I've no idea. It's not such a big deal for us. We have a nice day, but I'm not panicking about it now or nearer the time.

nicebitofquiche · 24/10/2018 18:04

Not ready at all. Because it's October. I do my Christmas shopping in December. When it's Christmas.

Kenworthington · 24/10/2018 18:05

I’ve done all the kids main presents and most of stocking bits. A few bits for dh and also ordered a lovely present for my mum off Etsy. I like to spread the cost over a couple paydays. I’ll be fully done by end nov

Chasingsquirrels · 24/10/2018 18:07

It's not something I've really thought about at all yet.

GreenTulips · 24/10/2018 18:10

Haven't even thought about

daphine2004 · 24/10/2018 18:10

All done and food ordered. I hate shopping in December and absolutely resent paying more for something which goes into a Boxing Day Sale the following day.

I buy throughout the year and also in the Boxing Day sales for the year ahead. Cards and paper included.

The year I decided to wait until December was awful. It was so busy and stressy. This way works for me and I just get to enjoy wrapping in December over several bottles of mulled wine and a few mince pies.

makingmiracles · 24/10/2018 18:11

Done 2 of 4 dc, done all stockings and wrapped stockings. Just few extended family membership to get for/finish off then we’re done and just got to wrap it all, we have three bdays in quick succession during Dec so like it all done beforehand then! Will worry about food and drink nearer the time.

Ploppymoodypants · 24/10/2018 18:12

Due a baby on the 23rd Nov so trying to be organised.
Stocking fillers for DD all done
Trips to see Father Christmas booked
Ordered meat from butcher
Won’t be going to any parties so that saves money and effort on clothes and drinks etc
Feeling slightly worried that recovery from c section may take longer this time (was up and comfortably about within 10 days last time)

OneStepMoreFun · 24/10/2018 18:12

Not at all ready but starting to prepare. We're having some work done on the house, have planned a date for throwing a Christmas party and have a couple of concerts and Christmas dinners with friends in the diary already.

Only bought one present so far.

CartwheelCath · 24/10/2018 18:16

Nothing except I've arranged 3 Christmas social events for December.
I am intending to get the tree and decs down mid November as I want to try and sell a load of Xmas decs we never use but normally it's 17th ish December before we get the decs down and too late to try and sell them then. I'm really hoping I actually follow thus through. I will still hold off until at least the 2nd week of December before putting them up though.
I will probably starr Xmas shopping for gifts beginning of December. That way I'm not tempted to top up and spend any more than I want or need to. I think in with the Xmas decorations are a couple of Boots gift sets bought last January in the sales. I will see what's what when it all comes out the loft.

Mid November I may make a Christmas cake. I know it's late to make one but I'm not keen on Christmas much before 2nd week in December, at which point I throw myself right into Christmas festivities until the 12th night in January.

So my response is not alot really!Grin

BroomOnTheRoom · 24/10/2018 18:27

I haven't done anything yet.

I've started writing lists of things to do though, and I've got some ideas about presents.

There's still plenty of time.

davisday · 24/10/2018 18:27

People are such twats about those who shop early. So what?

I have done some, planning to finish it off next week. Quite like to be able to relax throughout December and focus on my work which is inevitably busier in the run up.

I have also bought a present for DC birthday which isn't until after Christmas shock

ElleMcFearsome · 24/10/2018 18:35

Present spreadsheet is pleasingly filled out (ignoring the total at the bottom as I do every year!) with a quite a lot of stuff bought.

Eldest DD going skiing with Uni and we're paying for that so she's only having a few bits to unwrap. Youngest DD and her boyfriend who will be with us for Xmas are well on their way to having presents thought about/bought.

Colleagues - bought from M&S today. Extended family, some bought and all identified and in the spreadsheet with prices and links.

Stockings fillers (x3) mainly bought.

DH has a few bits but as usual I have no ideas what he wants - we are both a bit at that point in our lives where if it's less than £50 and we want the item, we buy it. The other stuff that we'd like costs a LOT. I might give in and panic buy him the new Apple Watch (only thing that I know for certain he wants).

Little jaunt out today to buy some (more) decorations.

Xmas cards being written in batches of ten as I get bored after ten and my naice handwriting goes to shit.

Food will be bought on 23/24th as it is every year without problems.

I like feeling like all the 'stressful' stuff is done and then I just enjoy the festive season in December without feeling pressured (plus spreading the cost over 3 pay checks is more manageable!)

BroomOnTheRoom · 24/10/2018 18:36

I definitely wasn't meaning to be a twat @davisday - we all do things differently and that's fine!
I do love the preparations for Christmas, whenever I get round to them!

DownstairsMixUp · 24/10/2018 18:38

I hate the ignorance of some middle class mumsnetters, people HAVE to start sorting christmas now because we don't all have the luxury of being able to do it all in December. Wake up and realise not everybody is loaded or has the means to do it all December. You just sound horrible and completely out of touch with the real world.

davisday · 24/10/2018 18:42

broom I posted a minute after you. It took me more than a minute to write and post.

I was not meaning you.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/10/2018 18:44

I need to do a present audit, but think I'm done. I may buy something extra for DH whose birthday is on 23 Dec, but the DC are sorted.

The food orders are also done, bar the bits I'm getting from Sainsbury's. I don't need many more ingredients for my baking as I've been getting those bit by bit recently.

I've already made mincemeat and am doing the pudding at the weekend.

I'm pretty well done, all told! Just the wrapping to do.
