Ds13 is into Fortnite, as all his friends play it. He’s got other games but doesn’t play much as all socialising seems to be done via Fortnite. Can anyone predict whether any new games due out are worth buying ie are the ones all his friends will be on?

Fortnite really seems to be it at the minute. There are other games coming out which I’m looking forward to but they’re all 18 rated :(

Does anyone know why Spider-Man is a 16 rating? DS (nearly 12 and also a big Fortnite fan) has been watching DanTDM play Spider-Man on Youtube. I've watched a few of his videos and I don't know if they've been sanitised for his audience but I can't see why it's got a higher age rating than Fortnite.

DS has asked for Fifa19 and a driving game called Crew2 but I must admit I haven't yet checked the rating on that one.

He has friends who are playing Call of Duty but that is a big no from me.

Well, if DanTDM likes it, it’ll take off! Will look at Spider-Man

I've just looked at Commonsense Media for the reasons why Spider-Man is a 16 and it says that there is some swearing (shit being the "worst") and there is a storyline about a new drug that is hitting the streets. In terms of violence it seems the same as Fortnite.

There’s a few new games coming out in the run up to christmas. Spider man is a really good game but single player (if she likes superhero stuff though she will love it). There’s a few scenes that could be scary for a younger audience, it’s quite violent and a few characters die which could be upsetting (it was for me 🙈).

Fallout 76 is going to be a multiplayer shooting type game- not sure if it will be age appropriate or not though. I think this will be another huge game (out in November I think). If she has played the other fallout games then she will like it.

Red dead redemption 2 is out next week but out of the 3 probably the least age appropriate as it’s from the makers of grand theft auto. All the gamers I know are going crazy about it. It’s likely to be a huge game so have lots of hours of game for your money.

Just seen red dead and fallout are both 18 so scrap my comment! Sorry! There’s a new fifa if he likes football?

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 20/10/2018 10:18

He’s not into football really, but may play fifa as his mates will be! Spider-Man sounded good but he may not play much as it’s single player. Call of duty is a no due to age rating. Anything else multi player and likely to be popular at this age?

We recently bought crash bandicoot and the whole family has been playing!

@Howmanysleepstilchristmas I've looked at The Crew 2 and it's online only - not single player. I'm assuming he can select to play with his friends if they have it - otherwise it's just a selection of randoms from PSN.

DS also enjoys the Star Wars Battlefront game that came out last year. That has the option of single player or online. That's a 16 but he usually plays with his dad and although it's a 16 rating I can't see anything in the game that justifies it.
