Hi everyone, so sorry because I bet this is asked a lot every year! My dd5 really wants a american girl type doll. I just can't justify the cost of it, so was wondering if the argos equivelant was any good? Also are they similar sizes for ordering extra outfits? thank you!

Hi, we were recommended design a friend by my sister in law, her 7 year old daughters have a mix of our generation and design a friend and prefers the faces of DF. We bought a doll and outfit for our 2 1/2 yr old because she wanted to join in with the bigger girls in family playing with there's. We just bought another in the argos 3 for 2, though some sets are reduced at the moment and we've purchased some for our nieces. They are same size and clothes fit both OG and DF dolls. Dolls come beautifully boxed and wrapped in tissue which is a change now days and make a lovely gift. Faces are friendly and not grown up, more childlike. Quality is really good and has withstood a lot of play they are really good value and look a lot more expensive than they were. The clothes are also nicely boxed and tissue wrapped. Our neices have the house and furniture too and they are lovely.

yip, I can recommend designafriend too, DD got one doll when she was 4, which is nearly 4 years ago now, and another one the following christmas. we've also got bits and pieces of furniture and it's all stood up really well. nice selection of clothes and outfits, and good value on the argos 3 for 2 deals

think American Girl/Our Generation are slightly bigger - 18" as opposed to 16" - so sometimes the clothes can't swap over, but Our Generation at Smyths has some nice sets, there's a camping set with sleeping bag and a tent for £20 which I thought was good value.....although one time we did have the doll tent set up in our tent HmmConfused
Santa also traditionally brings gifts for the dolls (Katy and Scarlett) in our house too BlushHmm

My daughter loves design a friend dolls. Great quality and they get played with A LOT! I would def recommend df from Argos. I sometimes buy outfits from eBay and found that the other brands clothes like American girl fit df

Keep an eye on Argos DF clothes, I bought loads earlier in the year for my DD for Christmas and they were really reduced - assume old stock they were getting rid of but I managed to save loads.

Yes, DF are lovely and come in beautiful packaging which makes it feel slightly high end .

My DD also has a London Girl doll- nice but expensive. Not worth the difference though.
