DS is 6, he'll be 7 in Jan but he's not very old for his age. We have toys coming out of our ears and we are probably going to do the 4 presents thing. So really I just want one medium to big present that is probably something he can actually play with immediately.

He's asked for a watch but that can be his "need" present.
Annoyingly he's asked for a penguin slap watch we saw in the window of Pylones but I don't think they do them any more.

Last year he got a remote control car which he still plays with.

He also asked, quite a while ago, for a skateboard but he's really uncoordinated so I'm worried he wouldn't be able to use it. I might try and get him a skateboard lesson though and if he's not too bad we could get that for birthday.

Randomly he turns out to be not too bad at roller skating but there's nowhere outdoors to do it and only about once every couple of months an indoor setup comes to town (and they give you your skates).

Nice blocks, we do have a LOT of building stuff though!
That's not the exact same watch but it could work!

Found the watch!
Either I was searching wrong or it was only in stores and not online yet.

not sure how you feel about tablets, but my sister just bought her ds this one here for xmas. link however, my brother got his son this link with a few games off ebay, and though it was an older device his son was thrilled and still plays with it now

A scalextrix? Good fun and still very much a toy but won't be seen as babyish by his peers.

We let him use an older iPad and he's not that bothered about which games his friends are using.
I think we may be a bit past race/train tracks (maybe he never really liked them?). DH is planting his train set hopes on DD at the moment!

Oh though I posted on another thread we do have some ideas: maybe a coding or Lego game or something like Hape dominos.

If he wants a skateboard what about a scooter? My DS is 7 in a few weeks and we have every toy imaginable for him too so know the struggle.

He has a bike, I wonder if we could get him a lesson with the bike on a skate park?
