Lego v lego junior

I have a 5 and 7 year old who have just started getting into lego. Is there much difference between normal lego and lego junior?

They have a huge box of lego from when I was little but no actual sets of lego if that makes sense?

Lego Junior has a lot of big parts that don't need to be built from scratch. I think normal Lego will be played with for longer. Certainly for a 7 year old I wouldn't bother with Lego Junior.

Lego junior are much more simple sets and builds. I - and my lego mad 6 year old - prefer the older sets. He received some juniors sets when he was 3 and could build them independently then, but he is a Lego obsessive!

The only difference is that Lego junior doesn't have very many small pieces, only the odd ones to make headlights for example, whereas normal Lego has lots of both.

My little boys just turned 5 and he's fine with proper Lego. We only get Lego junior now if he's after a particular set, like the Incredibles range we're only Lego juniors.

I found Lego junior to still have small pieces but the base of what you were building was bigger and you didn't need to from scratch. My son loves both.

Great thanks everyone. I think I'll skip lego junior then.
