ideas for cooking red cabbage?

Hi!
We all like (green) cabbage. I usually boil chopped green cabbage, drain and serve with butter and freshly ground pepper.
I was feeling festive today and picked up a red one thinking i could do a trial run before Christmas.
Any recommendations what to do with it? DP isn't keen on sweet and sour type flavours and the kids are already objecting to eating anything purple!

Braise it in a low oven or slow cooker - delicious.

Lots of recipes online eg www.deliaonline.com/recipes/collections/life-in-the-freezer/traditional-braised-red-cabbage-with-apples

I love red cabbage cooked slowly in the oven with apple, red wine, stock, little bit of brown sugar and butter and some nice wintery spices e.g. cloves, cinnamon. I just bung it all in so don’t have specific quantities but probably one cabbage, couple of cooking apples, chopped up in a casserole dish and enough stock/ wine to cover. Put in a slow oven for at least an hour.

I usually do this with Christmas dinner and make it the day before and just warm it up on the day. My kids like it too!

Delias red cabbage is ace.

So too is the Jamie Oliver one with Apple, bacon and fennel www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/vegetables-recipes/must-try-red-cabbage-braised-with-apple-bacon-and-balsamic-vinegar/

Yeah I’d probably go with Delia.

But for Christmas I just get it ready made from M&S. Easy, convenient, isn’t ruined by microwave heating.

Delia every time! It’s so good. Make extra because it freezes really well and then instant yum whenever you need it.

I fancy some right now!

Also Delia here. I make it every year. It reheats beautifully and can be frozen.
