What would you put in the slow cooker?

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has Christmassy slow cooker ideas and if using one on the day itself, which part of Xmas dinner would you put in it?

I'll only have a small oven and 4 rings to cook on. I could do meat the night before if necessary though.

Cauliflower cheese?

There are some good suggestions here

Ah thank you. We don't usually have cauliflower cheese but worth thinking about!

We always do a gammon for christmas/boxing day tea

Red cabbage but this can be made in advance in the slow cooker, frozen and warmed through in the microwave on the day.

we do a gammon.....lidl are quite good as are sansburys and tehy are cheap... we do v simple with a kids size carton apple juice and maybe a bay leaf......its great - do as big as fits! lasts for days- ham egg chips for boxing day or padding out leftovers for pie ....in sauce for pasta/stir fry

red cabbage i would make in advance and freeze - have you got a microwave?

If you have small counter space a pan like this can do the veg on one ring...

Mulled wine in the lead up to Christmas. If doing a meal then it gets used for the red cabbage...

I put the gravy in the slow cooker. I make the Jamie Oliver get ahead one and then it stews all morning in the slow cooker. It takes some of the stress out of the serving up.

I reheat the Christmas pudding in my slow cooker, give it 2-3 hours then it's all yummy and warm when you are ready to eat it. Also do steamed sponge puddings throughout the year, it's great because you don't need to remember to keep topping up the water!

Agree with gammon! Although don't put it in the oven after with a glaze and forget it! Haha
