Why the chuff is Schleich so expensive and is there anywhere that does good deals on it?

I can't remember the last time I saw it in a 3 for 2 sale. 😭

My 10 year old has asked if he can have lots of dinosaur figures for his birthday (Nov) and Christmas. It's the schleich and papo ones he loves.

I'm just happy he still wants toys but those bastards are DEAR. I bought 3 yesterday and am now £50 the poorer!

So please tell me of some super secret place they are sold for a fiver. Hahahaaaaa.

He's an absolute super star so I'll part with my pennies if I have to.

Oh and if anyone has any fun ideas of how to wrap/present a large number of these figures that'd be great! Please and thank you. Lovely pretty smart mnetter that you are. 😘

I usually find the sale section on the official website quite good. I've had a few real bargains from there before. I think postage is free over £30 and they always send a little freebie figure with my orders. Or if you dont mind second hand, dinosaur bundles are usually better value. We are a bit obsessed with schleich in our house. We got the dinisaur volcano for my sons birthday a few weeks ago which is brilliant!

Oh no, don't say that about the volcano! My DS would love it but it's so expensive I was just going to pretend I didn't know he wanted it. But if it's great I'm so going to give in.

I was in Costco on Saturday and they have 2 big sets from memory it was a safari / zoo type set and farm yard set. It could be worth checking there if they have any other sets that’s if you have membership. I can’t remember how much it was though. 🙈

There appears to be a Schleich Dinosaurs advent calendar on sale for £19.99 which seems relatively good value compared with price of individual figures. It says it is for 'Christmas 2016" but I think the concept of 1st to 24th December applies every year!!!

We’re looking to buy the Riding Centre for DD (4.5) this Christmas but not at £99 😱 I’ve hit an Amazon price tracker on it (currently down to £81) and I’ve been tipped of about a website that often has Schleich stuff reduced. I got the volcano last year (or the year before) for about a tenner. Maybe from Amazon. Put stuff you like on Amazon into camelcamelcamel and track prices.

@MaryStroppins do you remember how much the farm set was? I can see it on Costco's website but can't see the price

there is a schleich selling page on facebook which might be helpful.

i bought a huge bundle on my local gumtree page.

i agree the proper schleich website often has good deals in the sale section, plus i think you get 10 or 15% off your first order by signing up to their newsletter.

also look out for department store 20% off everything weekends leading up to christmas.

@LaPufalina I really can’t remember, I did pick it up and think it was a good price for the amount of pieces included, though still not cheap. If I wasn’t holding a sleeping baby I would local my local warehouse for you!

I honestly thought I'd get told that there's no schleich deals to be had but you lot are full of great ideas!

No idea Costco would have any, or thought to check Facebook. I'll be checking everywhere that's been suggested.

Smyths toys sometimes have them on 3for2. In our experience, Schleich and Papo really are better quality than cheaper alternatives.

I agree, Schleich and Papo are actually worth the money (and there's not many of DD's toys I can say that about!) We always found good deals on Wonderland Models https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/toys/model-figures/schleich/ but it was generally the knights and fantasy ranges DD was after. She still loves them and most have lasted for years.

Girl, that's my local shop! That's where I blew £50 on 3 yesterday. . Except the 10% off is only online, boohoo. P&P is so expensive that it wipes out any savings I'd get if I bought them online.

I keep hoping smyths will have a 3 for 2 but haven't seen one in ages. Hopefully that means there'll be one soon! ELC used to have lots of schleich and occasional 3 for 2 but they barely do any of the figures now.

Thanks for those links. My two love Schleich and want all the horse related stuff for Christmas. I’m nervous to go ahead and get the big stuff in case they change their minds but have bought a few bits for stockings.
I figure it is one of the few toys that we will keep in the loft and bring out if we ever have grandkids!

Just remembered another good website for schleich called scalefarm. Postage can be a bit high sometimes but they often have cheap bits.

@LaPufalina it might be too late but the prices are up for the Schleich products at Costco , bear in mid these will be slightly higher than the price in the warehouse as it includes shipping.

I did eventually get a bargain as Smyths had 3 for 2 today.

Also ordered from the schleich site and it all arrived in 3 days! My DS will be over the moon as we got a golden T-Rex.
