Lego dimensions?? Help!

Ds is soon to be 8 and loves computer games. He's just seen Lego dimensions in the shop (which I know they've stopped making so we're about 2 years too late!) but he's really into Harry Potter, Dr Who, Back to the Future etc so all those game pieces really appeal at this age.

Smyths is selling it all half price so the starter set is £19.99 and then the play pieces are between £3,49 and £9.99.

Is it any good? Is it similar to Disney infinity gaming? (Which he loves!)
What bits do we need to make it worthwhile? (I'm thinking of doing a bundle as his main Xmas present)

Thanks!

lego dimensions has been called the best Lego game yet, so if your ds is into that sort of thing then i would say go for it. would be worth having a look on gumtree.com , they have loads of starter packs on there that are going for much cheaper than their retail price. all the best x

It’s really good and very similar to Disney infinity. My DS rarely plays it now but a year or two ago absolutely loved it and had hours of fun with it. Like your Ds he loved the characters, Simpsons, Dr Who, Ghostbusters etc etc. If you can get it half the original price it will make a great present. Sorry but I can’t exactly remember what bits you need but I always find the staff in Game really helpful.

I hope so. I've just bought a lot off eBay for our 6 y/o DS for Xmas. I just need the ninjago set and he's got all his favourites.
