As the title says. DD has just started school and hasn't anything in mind yet for this year. I'm concerned she's going to ask for the LOL Surprise House which to me looks like cheap crap and is super expensive. At the same time though i don't want to deprive her of the "must have" toy if all her friends are getting one. Is anyone getting it? She's a big my little pony fan so not sure if there's any "big" toy I can get her there

Maybe a scooter possibly? My DS is 4 and a lot of his friends (some girls) have a scooter. I'm sure you can find a My Little Pony scooter...?

twattymctwatterson · 09/09/2018 00:58

She got a scooter last year and doesn't like bikes. What I actually need to do is just ditch s load of stuff to make way for new stuff!!

My dd has no idea what she wants. I have got her craft bits and stuff I've bought her across the year like some nice clothes, but other than that I have no idea!

I'm tempted by the Rainbowcorn as it's all her favourite things in one toy

MakeUpGirl · 09/09/2018 07:36

DD 4.5 has asked for shopkins, fingerlings dragons and the playmobil aquarium
She also wants a real fish tank and some fish so that’ll probably be her main present

Asj0405 · 09/09/2018 09:35

I've got one just starting school and one that's 6 both of them will want all the playground crazes which at the minute where we are
Anything LOL
Shopkins little secrets (like Polly pockets)
Squishies
Pimpki pops
Suprizimals

I also think they will see those Rainbowcorns on tv before Christmas and will be asking for those. There are so many options with the LOL stuff there's no way ill be spending £180 on a house or £85 on the bigger suprise but they do the pearl suprise for £30 and the underwraps for £15 and LOL themed things like bedding/towels/stationary. Mine will be thrilled with anything LOL wouldn't have to be the house.

Argos also some heavily reduced my little pony things at the minute

We didn't do a big present last year for DD who was 5. But small bits that soon added up. She really wanted Blow Pens so she got those off Father Christmas and they've been used to death. Got some board games (junior monopoly and Penguin Pool Party by Smart games (fab cos she can play them on her own)) a DVD and a CD. Then her stocking which had bits that either needed replacing or that she'd use over the year.

My DD is the same age, just started reception. I don't think she knows about the Lol surprise house as she hasn't mentioned it (yet!) but there's no way I'd buy it after actually seeing one recently. I couldn't get over how cheap and flimsy it was for the price and apparently the reviews so far haven't been good. She doesn't really have a 'main present' as such but I've got her a Dinsey princess Lego castle, one of the LOL under wraps dolls, a Rainbocorn and a unicorn Fingerling stashed away. Will also get her a board game (she has mentioned that Soggy Doggy one) and something crafty.

My dd's all time favourite present was a big toy box filled with all different craft things, coloured paper, stickers, pipe cleaners, glue stick, safety scissors, colouring pencils etc etc. It's great because it gets used regularly and we let her choose bits and pieces from the pound shop when her stock starts getting low.

Other things she enjoyed at 5 were playmobil and Lego, could maybe get her a set that goes with her interests? For example I got dd a playmobil classroom set when she was in reception. I try and get play sets rather than toys as I find she gets more use out of the pretend play aspect Smile

Hairdorables are popular with my dd - although they are no cheaper than LOL dolls!

SoyDora · 09/09/2018 17:55

Mine has just started reception too. She says she wants books, Lego and craft stuff, so that’s what she’s getting! She’s not really interested in toys at all, she spends most of her time making things.
My 3 year old will want the LOL surprise house if she sees it, but she’s not having it!

SoyDora · 09/09/2018 17:55

(3 year old will probably have sylvanian families instead)

SoyDora · 09/09/2018 17:56

Yes, this would be DD’s ideal present too!

Snakedoctor · 10/09/2018 17:07

I saw the my little pony canterlot and seaquestria castle for £20 on the home bargains website. Failing that, my DD loves her our generation doll and the Barbie campervan gets played with all the time. This year I am sure she will ask for LOL anything, pomsies pets, rainbocorns and anything else that comes in blind bag form!

Stompythedinosaur · 10/09/2018 20:39

I will not be getting the lol house either, it is far too expensive. I will get some tat for 5yo dd2 but not £180 worth!

Dd2 would love the poopsie unicorn surprise thing, but I don't want to get that either, so I'm hoping she doesn't know of it's existence.

I'm thinking of getting her a scruff-a-luv toy so she doesn't completely miss out on the tat toys of the year!

HairyToity · 10/09/2018 22:23

I'm planning on a simba chi chi dog with carry handbag. Along with pottery cool studio and a Goldiblox book. That's it. DH will probably add a few cheap stocking fillers last minute. I usually spend about £60, then he adds another £20 of bits and bobs.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 12/09/2018 10:21

My dd is 6 and thankfully hasn't mentioned lol dolls despite loving dolls and blind bags!! I'm trying to avoid her getting into them!

She loves her shopkins dolls, enchantimals dolls, monster high and my little pony equestria girl dolls.

I try and avoid expensive 'must have' as they are often crap - hatchimals, large lol surprise. If the girls ask we watch youtube reviews which show how rubbish they are and they generally change their minds! They did have the fingerlings last year and they have been used loads so I've bought a wrapple and pomsies this year. Plus a rainbocorn for dd2.

The lol house could you buy a wooden dolls house and recreate/make some blind boxes for the furniture? You could probably easily fashion a moving in truck out of a large box then fill with wrapped up furniture in tissue paper. Then buy a few lol dolls to go with it.
