How well does home-made shortbread keep?

I am thinking of making shortbread to send as presents this year, but am not sure how well it keeps.

Also - which flavour/s should I do - coffee and walnut, plain, Christmas spiced or choc chip?

In theory about 3-4 weeks in an airtight container. In practice home made shortbread wouldn’t last the night in our house.
My vote is for plain because it’s just perfection but now I’m intrigued by your other flavors.

Well - i decided to try the coffee and walnut one this afternoon, and I think you are right - it isn’t going to last more than a day or two! I have made some plain, for dh, because he is anti-walnut, but I haven’t tried the Christmas spiced one - I thought I could put in a mix of the spices that go in Christmas cake, and some chopped, mixed peel, and maybe use soft brown sugar instead of caster sugar.

Almond shortbread is a big hit here. Ground almonds in the mixture. Press flaked almonds into the dough before spiking and sprinkling with sugar and baking

That sounds delicious, @KC225 - thank you!

It's soooo good! Tried it out last year on my team and was demanded to make a second batch for the next day!
