The Nutcracker Book Recommendations

Each year I like to add to DDs selection of Christmas themed books to read together through December. This year I want to get a nice copy of the Nutcracker. DD will be 6.5 so don't want anything toooo wordy and long. But likewise I want more than just a couple of sentences a page. Nice illustration is a must too.

So does anyone have any particular recommendations?

I don't but I'm following for my DS - it's my favourite Christmas story so would love to get it for him.

There’s a really lovely version called Ella Bella Ballerina and The Nutcracker by James Mayhew which my DD loved at around age 6. It’s got nice illustrations, a decent amount of story text (though obviously simplified) and a good summary of the history of the full story at the end.

I have one I read with my DD which is lovely.

I have the most beautiful one I bought when dd1(16) was small, it comes out every year and has lovely flocked pages - I’ll check tomorrow and see who it’s by but it’s large and a very simple read.

Thanks Morethan . I have looked at Amazon but you can't see inside alot of the books. I'd like to know a bit more about what I'm buying irt don't/amount of text/illustration and local bookshop didn't have much of an Xmas selection out ATM. So thought I'd ask for any recommendations

I bought this one for my DD last Christmas for her December 1st box. It plays little excerpts from the ballet score and she loves it!

I can recommend the story orchestra one too. I bought it for my six year old niece last Christmas and she loves it.
