Elf on th shelf

Hi I'm wanting to do the elf on the shelf this year but not really understand what ya say about him how does he get here? And why? Does he just turn up one night from Santa then do naughty things every night then goes on xmas eve? Lol

We love Elf on the Shelf. We have 2, Cranberry and Holly. Holly arrived a few years after Cranberry to coincide with DD turning 3 and not grasping the concept of sharing so the DC's have one each.

Our elves are soft toy versions not the official ones and they aren't there to check up on the DC's, they just do fun and naughty things. The DC's love them, they've been coming for almost 10 years now. DS is now 12 and loves coming up with ideas for the elves to make his younger sister laugh.

Ours arrive on December 1st with our December box, similar to Christmas Eve box but with things they can use throughout the month. It always has their advent calendars and new pj's in.

They do daft things like decorate the tree with underpants, chuck toilet roll down the stairs. Last year we got a whiteboard pen and drew glasses and moustaches on all the framed photos in the living room. It's just a lot of fun and adds to the enjoyment of Christmas for us.
