Which ones will you be getting this year?

I'm thinking I'll treat myself to M&S (again), Look Fantastic and Amazon Smile

Rituals was good last year although it was more hand/body cream lotions, shower stuff and a few candles rather than face products. The tube sizes were decent bigger than miniatures. I will definitely buy it again this year if I can get it for a good price.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/08/2018 01:08

Not a Beauty one but I got the Yankee one last year ( DD bought it for me on the 23rd I think, reduced to £10)

It was three different scents of tealight with a votive for the 24th, not worth the original high price.

The M&S one always looks good value and there's always a thread on Stryle&Beauty .

I've had the Aldi one (ok but bit samey)

I like Rituals , that might be on the wish list Xmas Grin

Last year I bought little beauty gifts , clear bags, ribbon and numbered stickers for DD (she's 16) . It took a while to collect everything.
Things like Bodyshop, Cowshed, some travel sized from M&S , NYX, Tarte mascara - QVC special offer , Superdrug (DD uses Cruelty Free )

I excelled myself (preen) , DD was delighted , I used to hook the bag over her bed to find each morning.............she's decided she wants the same sort of thing this year .

HollyBollyBooBoo · 04/08/2018 05:38

I might go for the Cath Kidston one, the little products will be perfect for use in the caravan and I'm a complete packaging sucker, this years looks lovely.

feesh · 04/08/2018 05:46

I had three (!) last year, and I’ve been feeling guilty ever since about the amount of plastic packaging involved, so I’ve decided not to get one this year.

FYI, last year I bought myself the Liberty and Lookfantastic ones, and Mum bought me the M&S one. I thought the M&S one was by far the best value for money. Wasn’t at all impressed with Liberty for the cost.

PopeyeandOliveOil · 04/08/2018 05:46

i hd the lookfntstic one lst year it was pretty good probably go for something similar this year again.

SideOrderofSprouts · 04/08/2018 09:24

Think I’m going to get the make up Revolution this year for me

woodhill · 04/08/2018 09:25

Definitely M&S as still using products and so useful on holiday

Almostthere15 · 04/08/2018 21:13

I really enjoyed my Amazon calendar last year, but I would wait for black Friday as it was significantly reduced. (I complained and they matched the price). Last year i used most of what was in there and passed the rest on to grateful dn.

I love Christmas but Dec is often pretty stressful for me and it was nice to have a treat each day

Brightermornings · 05/08/2018 10:16

M and S for me again I loved it. I wonder how much it will be this year?? Little tip I sold the empty one on eBay after Christmas.

French2019 · 05/08/2018 10:19

I had the John Lewis one last year and loved it! Might well do the same again this year. DD had the body shop one, which was also nice.

Piccolino2 · 05/08/2018 11:16

I gave in and bought a Liberty advent calendar last year. It was an absolute thing of beauty and I loved it. I really looked forward to it every day and still using the products, many of which I would repurchase.

I've been saving £5 a week since January so that I can buy a really nice advent calendar without guilt. I'll be looking at Liberty again and Harrods and see what else is available. It's such a lovely treat.

oldbirdy · 05/08/2018 11:22

I had the L'Occitane more expensive one last year (and the cheaper version the year before). It was lovely, lots of face oil, perfume and moisturizer rather than the tiny tubes of shower gel that dominated the cheaper version.

Not sure what I'll have this year, m and s sounds good.

CocoLoco87 · 05/08/2018 22:55

How much was the M&S one? I bought a Boots no.7 one last year. It was ok but I wouldn't bother again

SimplyPut · 05/08/2018 23:37

I got squiffy last October and came home from a London meeting with a £300 Jo Malone one from Harrods. Never again, I love JM but overpriced, I would rather have 2 full size bottles and a few candles!

masterstef · 05/08/2018 23:39

House of Fraser one. Fingers crossed for a tiny funnel!

masterstef · 05/08/2018 23:41

Really I'll be getting the m&s one. It's usually about £35 with a spend of £50 or so (Not in the food hall though).

It's good value and I don't really treat myself the rest of the year.

QOD · 08/08/2018 19:32

Any reduced ones from last year around?

Caggie09 · 16/08/2018 19:10

Oh, its nice to find other people planning this so early. Ive been thinking about the damn things since 26th of Dec! Really fancy treating myself to the Diptqyue advent costs £320, problem is i wont stop at one. I loved m&s last year and look fantastic, so plan to get them too. Id quite like another Liberty one too, but is four to extreme? Then ill need a chocolate one aswellBlush

QOD · 16/08/2018 19:15

I am soooo ready to buy a reduced one. Now. In August haha

Fstar · 16/08/2018 20:53

I dont think i am going to bother to be honest. Ive been looking at some that will be released here . Ive finally found products i really like so do t really want to try and more just now and think i can buy some relly nice makeup and skincare that i use rather than spendinv on the advent

Ive had

loccitane twice, like it but now buy full size of products i like
a marshmallow one, not worth the money
Rituals twice, the firat year had more face products and last year more body, like them both but again now buy the full sizes of what i like

snowplop · 18/08/2018 14:11

I had the Look Fantastic and the M&S ones last year. The M&S one was a bit disappointing compared to 2016 but the LF was fab and I'm still using the drawers as extra storage in my bathroom! I'd really like a Decleor or Estée Lauder one this year. I can't believe I'm thinking about this in August Blush

MyCatHasStaff · 18/08/2018 14:30

I had a Clinique one which I liked. Good sized minis of stuff I would use.

I8toys · 18/08/2018 19:45

I had loads last year

M&S
Rituals
Benefit - bought in sale

Got Amazon and Essie in amazon sales and used for January!!

Also had a chocolate and Yankee candle one - I like the build up to Christmas more than Christmas day itself!

Got a Ciate one put away but will get the Rituals and M&S one again definitely.

Bearbehind · 18/08/2018 19:55

They are really not worth the money- there's too much stuff you don't like / wouldn't choose. Much better to buy a chocolate one then use the difference to buy full sized products of the things you know you like.

princessbear80 · 18/08/2018 21:45

There’s a thread on the Style and Beauty board with links for more details if anyone is interested. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/3338411-beauty-advent-calendars

Budget is tight this year but might stretch to the m&s one.
