Hi I want to make Christmas presents for my family this year but I have no idea what to make them! I am a creative person but my family is so picky, any ideas?! Thanks

What ages and what crafts?

Children: crayon rolls, pyjama cases, character cushions, dolls clothes, hats, scarves, gloves.

Adults: iPad/kindle covers, makeup bags, mug cosies, tea cosies, hats, scarves, gloves.

Loads of ideas on Pinterest and loads of patterns on Ravelry (many of them free) if you knit or crochet.

One year, I knitted each person a cotton facecloth (pretty simple knit purl patterns, just changing the numbers of each stitch to form the initial or symbol in the middle) and added a nice soap to each. That went down well. And each one is reasonably fast to knit up (I recently did one for someone else and, as I had the evening to sit quietly, it was done in about 3 hours while chatting so not totally concentrating on it).

Just google knitted facecloths/knitted dishcloths for lots of free patterns. And cotton is available in lots of different colours for knitting.

I make up hampers (not big ones!)

Christmas Jam

Onion chutney
Chocolate truffles
Fudge
Biscotti

All can be made in massive batches and you can find presentation boxes etc quite cheaply on amazon.

Then I get my kids to decorate plain white mugs with these special pens. You fire them in your oven to set them.

Always goes down really well!
