Which balsam hill tree?

So as an investment and treat for myself I'm planning to purchase a balsam hill tree while they're on sale.... but which one should I go for? I know you can buy samples of the different styles of leaf - has anyone done that? Is it worth it?
I like the look of the Berkshire mountain fir (who knew Berkshire had mountains?!) - can anyone post a real-life photo of it decorated for Christmas?

Bumping - ok, I know it's March but there must be some other Christmas enthusiasts out there?!

Xmas Smile Fox there was a BH thread before Christmas (Ill try and find it) , IIRC the OP wasn't happy with their tree but after a lot of fluffing'n'faffing it looked better. Not sure if it was Worth the £££ better

I bought a real tree last year after years of a prelit fake I detested.
The real tree was massive (it didn't look that big in the shop) we had to lop a bit of the top and body swerve round it all Christmas.
And on Christmas Eve I felt a bit Bleurgh and was convinced the tree was going manky and smelled like the Hallowe'en pumpkins went they were rotten. So it put me off it a bit.

I'll have a look in the BH site later to find out when the sales are on, I really want one this year too.

Thanks Lisa I've just had a look at that thread which has put me off slightly! I saw a beautiful one in John Lewis last year but it only came in size 7ft which is way too big for my little house!

Xmas Grin

I am frequently called Lisa don't worry , have your coffee fix Wink

My UN is a reference to motorway driving !

I was unimpressed at the M&S trees and wowed by Costco prelit but I'd have to take the ceiling (and all my furniture ) out to accomodate it .

Oh , QVC do some pretty nice ones , usually either Christmas in July (either 24/25 July) or August .
Usually in EasyPay but hefty on P&P

I think the snow frosted ones were a but messy from reviews , but I might get my tree from QVC this year after my real tree (the tree wasn't rotten BTW , it was my weirdy sense of smell )

We treated ourselves to a new artificial one this year and it was fab. Ours was a 7ft Bluffton tree from Wyevale garden centre. It came in smaller sizes and we got it just after the trees came out when they did a 20% offer.

Take a look at www.werchristmas.co.uk. We got a pre-lit one from there last year and it's really lovely. Only cost £100.00 for a 6ft one (I found a 10% voucher via Google).

I am going to spend a good couple of hours on that site Fluffy , good job most of the Advent Calenders are sold out or I'd be measuring them up (I did a Beauty Advent for DD in little gift bags with ribbons ahhh )

I just asked DH how tall/wide/how many lights our next tree should have and I could see his ManFace thinking "It's March " but his ManBrain saying " FGS don't question her" Xmas Grin

I've not looked any closer than the tree I got, 70, that way an empty bank account lies! Xmas Grin

HeartShapedFox · 11/03/2018 09:20

Ha 70 I think my husband is a bit like that too, he's used to my Christmas obsession now!
Thanks for that link Fluffy, I'll check that site out.

IMO Balsalm Hill are totally worth the extra. Ours is just in a different league to other trees I’ve seen.

HeartShapedFox · 11/03/2018 14:26

Which one do you have Loves? I'm interested in the really bushy ones...

I’ve just looked at the website and I don’t think they do ours anymore. It’s a snow tipped one. It’s the only artificial tree we’ve ever had, we got it to make things easier with young kids. It’s really beautiful, looks fantastic even before we decorate it. I wish we’d got a taller one though.

Also, I quite enjoy the fluffing. You get gloves and it takes about five minutes to put the tree together then about half an hour to fluff it.
