Any one else had lidls version of baileys it faileys (fake Baileys) as me and dh have lovingly called it

Never had it before and it's gorgeous

Unfortunately the bottles now gone and we're not near a lidl are there any other similar products

Me and dh disagree over whether it should be kept in the fridge or not.

Might need another glass to decide.

Nicpem1982 · 25/12/2017 22:47

Ours is/was fridged

It's Faileys in this household too Grin

Real Baileys seems far too rich, now.

Nicpem1982 · 25/12/2017 22:49

Lol where do you buy your faileys?

Lidl!

Was hoping for an Asda alternative as no where near a lidl

I’ve tried Lidl (more creamy, but not the same rich booze Irish cream taste), and ALDI (s bit thinner, but bitter with an after taste). Don’t think theyve managed to beat the taste of real baileys (original, not fussy on the flavours) but as a cheap alternative they are ok.

Princesspinkgirl · 25/12/2017 22:58

Asda used to do one Irish cream i think

CremeBrulee · 25/12/2017 23:09

I'm on my third glass of Merlin - welsh version of Baileys, less sweet, really creamy with a nice whisky kick. Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/12/2017 23:17

My DD reckons you cannot beat the original ( I Bought her a miniature of original Baileys and there's a bottle of Sainsburys knocking abut)

Did a blind taste test , she's a label lover anyway, but she picked the proper Baileys Wink

I used to like the M&S version... it’s been a few years though.

Rainbowmother · 26/12/2017 08:55

I find Tesco's own version of baileys for £8 is fantastic

RaininSummer · 26/12/2017 08:58

Discovered it a few years ago. Gorgeous. This year I have been making a cocktail with it adding vodka and a!mind milk.

Mulch · 26/12/2017 08:59

I had the Aldi cheapy one and can't say I'm a fan. Anyone tried their specially selected one?

Imfinehowareyou · 26/12/2017 09:31

We are on our 6th bottle of Aldi's Ballycastle Grin Safe to say we like it a lot!

mammmamia · 27/12/2017 00:03

Always get the brand every Christmas and always refridgerate. Can it be left out safely? I like it cold but not always with ice.

lookingforbaubles · 29/12/2017 11:51

yes yes the mint chocolate aldi faileys with ice and a slosh of milk is lovely

LadyPenelope68 · 29/12/2017 11:56

Aldi Faileys is lovely, so is the ASDA one!

NotAPuffin · 29/12/2017 11:58

The M&S chocolate orange one is very nice.

tinytemper66 · 29/12/2017 11:59

I love Merlyn's. It is made about 20 miles from me and I fancy going to the distillery to see the whisky being made...Penderyn.

MinkowskisButterfly · 29/12/2017 13:11

Sainsbury's and Aldi versions are really nice - both versions I would happily use as a substitute. Icelands version if I recall was a little thin/watery and feeneys (brand I bought in Asda) took a bit of getting used too - couldn't put my finger on what was not quite right.

LadyPenelope68 · 29/12/2017 13:27

Aldi Faileys is lovely, so is the ASDA one!

BarbaraOcumbungles · 29/12/2017 13:28

The normal Lidl one is ok but he delux Lidl one is better than actual baileys imo 😮

DaftCat · 29/12/2017 13:33

Sainsburys Faileys is lovely. I almost prefer it to the real thing. I find most of the other fakes too thin. I like the creamy mouthfeel of Baileys.
I am aware that using the words “creamy mouthfeel” marks me out as a massive ponce.

MadisonAvenue · 29/12/2017 14:46

I'm on my third bottle of Aldi's Ballycastle. Having tried the dearer one but for £3.79 or whatever, this one is really good.
