I ordered a releigh bike for my daughter (16 inch one) month ago and dh has just made it up ready for Christmas.they as he’s got near the end he’s realised there’s no saddle! I’ve contacted amazon and they have refunded 25% but now obviously I havnt got a clue how to get a saddle that will fit this bike and also one that will look nice on it. Going to go to Halfords in the morning and hope for the best but does anyone have any idea where I could get one on such short notice.will one from Halfords even fit on it?thanks in advance

Buy a Raleigh saddle online or in store

TittyGolightly · 20/12/2017 22:38

Saddles are generally a standard fit.

NC4now · 20/12/2017 22:39

Give your local bike shop a ring in the morning.

Lisamac1988 · 20/12/2017 22:41

Thanks everyone.ive looked for a releigh saddle by itself for that actual bike but I can’t find any it just seems like there’s no option of buying just the saddle

Is it missing both seat post and saddle or just saddle? Eg there should be the bar coming up from the bike, and then another bar goes into that, which the saddle is attached to, and that enables you to adjust the height? Assuming both seat post and saddle:

Measure the internal diameter of the bar the saddle goes into, carefully. Then you can use that to pick a saddle. Probably go for a fairly squishy children’s one. Should be totally achievable. Ideally I’d take the bike in the car with you, but as long as you measure carefully I can’t imagine there will be a problem.

I imagine you’ll want something like this: www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=273941&productId=222775&storeId=10001

Plus the correctly sized seatpost.

This is how it is at the min so guessing it needs the pole part too.gutted as I really wanted a saddle to match

Is this too big?

Ebay

Its plain white & 48 hour delivery.

Etymology23 · 20/12/2017 23:04

Yes, needs pole part too.

Is there an independent store in your town? They might have a better choice?

Or could you get the seatpost from halford and then get a girls saddle on next day delivery from amazon?

Evans cycles also do a plain black children’s one. Remember that she doesn’t know what colour saddle she’s expecting so she’ll be delighted with whatever you get.

Lisamac1988 · 20/12/2017 23:08

I’ll have a look thanks.if all else fails illl Just have to get any saddle that fits and then just get a purple cover for it

A local bike shop will definitely be able to sort you out. Just call round and see if they've got it in stock first.

Not being a dick, but when you're calling round, it's Raleigh, not releigh.

doze931 · 20/12/2017 23:18

Is there no way amazon can send u a new bike next day delivery

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 20/12/2017 23:20

doze has it. Amazon should replace by next day delivery.

littlemisscomper · 20/12/2017 23:21

Awww, don't worry, I'm sure you can sort it! Your little girl will absolutely love it I' sure - she won't even notice if the saddle doesn't match!

Sullabylullaby · 20/12/2017 23:25

25% is a ridiculous amount of compensation. I'd expect next day delivery of a full bike at their expense. And return of the bike at their expense also! That, or a full refund and buy the bike somewhere else. Plus a voucher for compensation.

Caulk · 20/12/2017 23:26

Amazon would have just replaced it...

BikeRunSki · 20/12/2017 23:32

Local bike shop will see you right.

Lisamac1988 · 20/12/2017 23:33

They told me it was 25% off or I could return it but if I did that I would have to wait for them to receive it and then wait for the refund to go back in my bank to then buy another and Christmas is only a few days away plus I couldn’t be bothered with the mess about really.I didn’t even realise I was spelling it wrong,I’m sure there will be spelling mistakes on most of what I write,I have the worst phone crack ever on my phone

OP posts:
SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 20/12/2017 23:36

Sorry, like I said, wasn't being a dick. Just wanted you to have the right spelling - makes Internet searches easier.

Lisamac1988 · 20/12/2017 23:36

Thanks everyone that has helped anyway.ill update tonorow if I manage to sort it.

OP posts:
Lucked · 20/12/2017 23:39

Check on gumtree there are loads of pink bikes on their dirt cheap, especially as you only need the saddle to be in good condition. The 25% back will probably cover the cost of a second hand bike

Lisamac1988 · 21/12/2017 22:15

Well after phone round at different bike shops and going in to Halfords I had no luck as it seems the seat post was the hard thing to get hold of as nowhere had the size I needed and Halfords could only order in which would of got here after Christmas.my dh had to go to Leeds today and looked in that store and luckily they had the right one needed so we’ve now got one.The only saddle we could get though was black but at this point I just want a bike that I can actually give as a present and it’s not that big a deal that it doesn’t match I guess. He’s going to fit it tomorow.

OP posts:
Lisamac1988 · 21/12/2017 22:17

Sorry about all the spelling mistakes, the phone crack in my screen is horrendous,it will have to wait till after Christmas to get fixed...

OP posts:
Etymology23 · 21/12/2017 23:56

Glad you got it fixed, even if it’s not your ideal solution :)
