Stocking presents - to wrap or not?

Do you wrap the presents that go in the stocking or not? I never had a stocking growing up, me and DH usually wrap the stocking presents for each other but now I'm thinking it just adds effort?! DS will be 17 months, he didn't have a stocking last year as no presents little enough to fit. I'm wondering if them being wrapped with just frustrate him..

Not at 17 months, no.

Older children, yes. Keeps them occupied for just a few more minutes on Christmas morning.

It only took me 10 mins per stocking this year, then put them in a named carrier bag to put in stockings on Christmas eve

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 19/12/2017 09:05

I wouldn't bother for teenagers or adults though.

Primary aged children, definitely

Not wrap...

Chaosofcalm · 19/12/2017 09:21

It depends on how many gifts you have in total. I will be wrapping my 19 months old stocking gifts (as they are from Santa Claus) but she is only getting three gifts from us and one on them can’t be wrapped.

burntoutmum · 19/12/2017 09:22

I wrap stocking presents

MistyMinge · 19/12/2017 09:28

I always have done in the past, but don't think I'm going to bother this year. At 17mths and only one DC, I probably would. I've wrapped their main presents.

BiddyPop · 19/12/2017 09:29

No never

sweetsomethings · 19/12/2017 10:06

I wrap everything

Codlet · 19/12/2017 10:07

We don't wrap.

cliffdiver · 19/12/2017 10:07

I wrap everything.

I’ve even separated a 7 pack of knickers and wrapped each one individually HmmGrin It must have been when I wasn’t working and had a lot of time on my hands.

ArbitraryName · 19/12/2017 10:10

I wrap everything too, including wrapping pants and (pairs of) socks individually. The children like to guess whether it’s a boring (e.g. socks) or interesting stocking present before opening them.

Sometimes I hide exciting things inside pants so that they’ll think it’s a boring one but really it’s not.

Reading this back, it’s quite tragic. But the children enjoy it.

Definitely wrapping. Mine are 7yo and 5yo and always open their stockings in our bed. Wrapping the presents means that we get to stay in bed longer!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/12/2017 11:30

I always did - but little things only in stockings, and def. different (cheaper!) paper from other presents - at least while they still believed.

Payfrozen · 19/12/2017 12:34

I use tissue paper just scrunched if I can get away without sellotape.
Someone here recommending buying a batch of paper sweet bags

Shelby1981 · 24/12/2017 07:03

Ooh yes, IKEA have festive paper sweet bags (like pick n mix bags) and I bought a pack. Good shout!

Definitely wrap. Way more fun!!

Ohyesiam · 24/12/2017 07:37

The stocking is the wrapping x

FlowerPotMum · 24/12/2017 07:45

I wrap it all. More time in the morning while they struggle with the acres of sticky tape! 😂

PanicHitsEarlyForMe · 24/12/2017 07:49

I wrap the stocking presents. Also, I buy different wrapping paper for father Christmas presents because it'd be a hell of a coincidence if the elves had the same wrapping paper as mummy!

YesILikeItToo · 24/12/2017 07:51

Wrap! For toddlers I always wrap in tissue as you can rip it off.

PunkAssMoFo · 24/12/2017 15:42

No, not presents in the santa sack. Mine hav plenty to unwrap from other people, so it can get a bit much. They’re 6 and 2.

Alexandrite · 24/12/2017 15:44

I don't wrap sweets in the stocking but wrap other gifts

endehors · 24/12/2017 15:47

Stocking presents here are all wrapped in tissue paper.

AnotherWorry · 24/12/2017 21:02

I never bothered. Until DD (7) recently said to me "Mummy, I don't mean to be rude, but Santa is really a bit lazy not wrapping our stocking presents, isn't he?" Xmas Hmm

So this year they're wrapped.

Vicks30 · 24/12/2017 21:12

Yeah we wrap the stocking presents. They open them in our bed, we let them open one each at a time, gives me time to wake up properly.
