When do Christmas Eve boxes appear?

We’ve gone all out this year (so Christmas haters look away now)

Ds is 3 and really gets what’s going on and is ridiculously excited.

So Christmas Eve box when do you get it out? my options are, elf on the shelf delivers it in the morning as his final hurrah or does it appear when we get back from visiting Father Christmas (ie, DH will go and get him in the car and I’ll quickly stick it in the living room before we go so it’s there when we get back)

Elves deliver while DS is on the bath. It's new pjs, book and hot chocolate. Basically an attempt to get DS to slow down, calm down and go to sleep before midnight Grin

We've had ours out, next to the tree for a while.

I bought my DS (just turned 4) some slippers he wanted last week and said "you can't have them now, but they can go into your Christmas Eve box" and he was fine with it. He knows they are in there, it's not a surprise.

I don't want Xmas eve to turn into another Xmas. But I do want everyone to have some nice new jarmies etc

Last year it was early evening. We did the Santa sleigh in the sky (space station) then went back indoors then a little while later I said I heard the door go then came back with the box and said a cheeky elf left it there and ran off. I just made my own one up and filled it with things she'd have got anyway pyjamas etc. Made a pass for Netflix that kind of thing. I don't buy into it all but thought it would be nice for her.

We have a naff (but we like it) family game of Bingo. When you get a full house then your prize is a present. It always used to be new pyjamas, but frankly they have enough pyjamas, so this year it will be a dressing gown. It always gets a bit rowdy but they're old enough not to be too excited to sleep (well, usually!)

Our Christmas eve box is the same as mine used to be as a child - new pjs for everyone, some chocolate/popcorn and a new dvd (I used to get a video).

We don't have an elf so ours appears downstairs when the dcs have gone up for a shower before bed.

BiddyPop · 18/12/2017 10:10

Ours appears after dinner, as we light the Christmas candle first and say a few prayers, then the box appears.

But our box is a move towards bedtime box, no activities, and DD also knows (and has known from the start) that it is me who does it rather than an Elf.

HuskyMcClusky We don't have Netflix or Sky or I Tunes or a Fire Stick! So my son is having Raymond Brigg's Father Christmas in his box which will arrive on Christmas Eve Morning,
