Anyone working Christmas?

As I said, I’m working Christmas Day and Boxing Day, (nurse in kids ward) my kids will be at their dads, he’s mr Christmas so they are so excited his place is like Santa’s grotto.

Me, on the other hand just can’t get into it. Tree only just went up and I’ve lost a leg for it so it’s propped up with some wood at the back but covered, looks fine though need to get some tea lights but really I don’t care just put it up for the kids and pressure from ex as kids wanted it up.

I’m also moving in January so been trying to pack stuff and sort all the crap in my house. Wish I could get more into the spirit of things but feel like I won’t have a Christmas as I’ll not be here. I’ve bought one present so far - get more money on Wednesday to do the rest. Hopefully as I begin to wrap gifts and we get closer to the 25th I’ll get more into it 😊 mourning my Christmas dinner too have been nights previously so got some dinner when I got up.

I'm not but have worked in the past and I think it is much harder to get into it when you are working.

Will you have other days to do Christmassy things with your dc? If so, then maybe you will feel more festive then?

I hope you manage to have a nice time anyway and I hope you are appreciated by your patients/their families (I'm sure you will be).

Thank you for your kind words, it’ should be a lovely day on the ward we make sure all the kids are treated and get lots of donated pressies for them and decorate the bays etc most get away home or on pass to enjoy the day with their families.

We will do presents on the wed I don’t know just feel it’s not the same, but will get into the spirit closer to the day am off to do some shopping, been looking after ds2 who is sick all day so looking forward to some Christmassy music and spending money lol
