Someone on here was talking about a game called mean santa where you wrap lots of little random presents and the players have to throw dice to pick one? Anyone know the 'rules'??

I am not sure if this is the same, but a girl from school told me about a game her family plays at their large Christmas get-together.
It is called the 5 pound present game.
Everyone buys one £5 present and puts it in the middle of the floor.
You all sit in a circle.
You set the timer for the length of time you want to play (the more people, the longer you play)
You roll the dice. If you get a 6 you pick a present and unwrap it and hang on to it.
The next person to roll a 6 also picks a present and so it continues until all the presents have been taken.
The next person to then roll a 6 can take a present from someone else.
And so it continues until time runs out.
You keep what you have ended up with.

I think that was the gist of it. She is 9 and the classroom was noisy... :)

Fill a sack with a number of wrapped items from the pound shop. Add a couple of "nice" gifts of higher value. Now you all sit round and take turns to throw the dice. If you throw a 6 you take a gift from the sack and unwrap it so everyone can see what you've got. If you throw a 1 it entitles you to steal a present from someone. This continues until all the presents in the sack have been opened by which time there has been much stealing of the most coveted gifts.

It sounds vaguely similar to White Elephant, which is a lot of fun. We usually draw numbers from a hat as to who is going first.
