I've pretty much finalised my weekly menu for Christmas week.
The big day will go something like this.
Mug of tea and Christmas tree crumpets first thing as DH is on an early shift (registered manager of a home for 16-24 year olds with very severe SN). Not all can go home for Christmas. Open comedy present.
He'll leave, I'll start prepping stuff.
Around 11am, DD and I will have a bacon sandwich.
The nibbles (so nuts, pringles etc) get put out about 1pm as DMIL is coming over and she'll be ready for a sherry or two (we'd drank a third of the bottle between us by 3pm last year).
There'll be a tub of chocolates out too.
DH finishes at 3pm, should be home by 4pm.
We'll then open some prosseco and have our starter as we open our presents, I'm doing prawn coctail canapes. So prawn cocktail on top of blinis and in little baby gem lettuce leaves.
Main meal at 5.30pm.
Roast goose
Roast potatoes
Honey roasted parsnips
Sprouts (lots, just tossed in butter)
Carrots
Bread sauce
Apple sauce
Apple and cranberry stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Possibly some slow cooked red cabbage.
That's it.
We might have a mince pie and cream later in the evening with a Bailey's coffee about 9pm.
